Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mass Effect Thread: Leviathan is out, buy it, it's great

For the sake of spoilers, though, I think "the new ending" is fine.

I really enjoyed the way the voice changed when you initiated it.

I would have liked to see it go further and have Star Child morph into Harbinger, but that's just a minor niggle.

Well, you have to keep in mind he's not Harbinger, he's the collective intelligence of all Reapers. And the voice wasn't Harbinger's either.

Well perhaps not Harbinger, but something more threatening than an eight year old child.

More importantly: Post #20,000 and only about a year behind CGI-Quality. Time to go make a thread about it.

Would you have been happier with a three-month delay of the game so that this ending could be available at launch?

I would, but since we didn't know what a clusterfuck it would be at a March release, we would all be whining about delays. So it goes.

Life lesson: Don't complain about delays (unless they go on for three years like TLG).

There's a Miyamoto quote from a decade or two back (man I feel old all of a sudden...). Something about a delayed game being good eventually, and a rushed one being bad forever. The specifics elude me. Senior Moment, maybe. But to answer your question: yes. I might have whined and pouted for those three months because of the delay, but then I whined and pouted for those three months anyways because of the product, so...

You know it's really kind of amazing the amount of musical callbacks this game has.

Like the battle theme for Sur'kesh? It includes the same drums playing when you decide the way the ending will play out:

It's a very nice touch.

The way that your war room has a very quiet, very subtle version of Vigil's theme constantly playing is also very nice. It's hard to hear but it makes everytihng you do or say in there sound important, and weighted, and urgent, and sad.

Haven't played the first Mass Effect, so it's a little confusing, but i don't think it's a big deal. I have a good PC that's always an option if I ever want to play it.

I'm playing Mass Effect 2 on PS3 and I'm currently about 20 hours in, right after the Collectors invade the Normandy.

It's a pretty big deal, and I'd suggest playing the first Mass Effect at some point, if just for the sake of completeness. Now that you've played ME2, though, you may never be able to go back to ME1's gameplay.

How are you enjoying it?

It's pretty good, but I never really got a sense of danger until the Collectors boarded the Normandy

I just finished Mass Effect 2, hopefully I didn't miss anything, cuz I went upstairs to my computer to type this up when the credits started rolling.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the second half, but the first half was meh. It kind of felt like grinding, like I needed to make my team stronger before I could take down the big baddies.

...Well, I guess that's exactly what it was, but it still felt like grinding. Even though I'm not the biggest Mass Effect fan (have not played the first one), the ending kind of made me want to play ME3.

Up next on my to-do list is Dead Space.
