If they do have a price cut anytime soon, it will be because it's gonna be discontinued like the HP touchpad was last year. I would rather it not happen, but less than stellar Japan sales don't show a bright future for this device.

I have to say that even though the price cut hurt Nintendo pretty bad they must LOVE the fact that it means people are hesitant to buy a Vita for fear that it will get a price cut. The sheer fact that even before launch Sony are being asked about price cuts is comical.

'Wait Nintendo with the follow up to the far more successful DS did a price cut in 6 months? Yea no way I'm buying a vita now. I'll wait the 6months''

ontopic: i doubt Sony could afford  price drop anyway. besides, i don't think Kaz would look at that as viable considering PS is one of his 2 pillars for Sony way back to profit.

If they do have an early price cut(they won't) then everyone is going to be like "OMG! The 3ds is so f%@$/*# expensive. It's as much as a Vita, stupid low tech nintendo is robbing us blind! *spit* *slur* *snort*"

Outside of Japan Vita hasn't had its 1st Xmas yet. So this year it has its launch and its 1st Xmas in most of the world, its 1st BF in USA and its 1st Golden Week in Japan. Will it need a price cut soon, less than one year from launch? IDK, but I don't see any reasone to assume right now, before it even completed its WW launch, it will.

This announcement means nothing at all. Even if a price cut was on its way, Sony would be dumb to say it, they want ppl to buy theyr system now not later. Same thing happened with the 3DS, Nintendo were denying price cuts.

Also I dont think Sony can afford a price cut on the vita, I read somewhere that vita was sold already at a rly small loss, if they are not, they are making rly low profit with it, unlike the 3ds that made alot of profit at 250$.
