Waiting for the Canadians' "you call this snow?" posts...

Yeah we had 16.5 feet of snow in 2007. But their winter isn't over yet so it ought to get even more epic.

I remember that winter! Snow storm after snow storm, all winter. I also remember we had something like 4 feet of snow the night before Super Smash Bros. Brawl's release. That didn't stop me from going to the Future Shop at 10 in the morning to buy it.

What is the world record for snow fall? Please be reasonable everyone. I only accept answers in American measurements.

It really depends what you are talking about, and it can be a little debatable, since multiple systems could be counted as one if there wasn't much of a break.

The most ever in a 1 year period is 102 feet at Mount Rainier from Feb 1971 to Feb 1972.  The most in a single season is 95 feet, also at Mount Rainer for the 1998-1999 winter season.

The most ever in 1 month is 390" (32.5 feet) at Tamarack California.

Most ever in 24 hours is 76" at Silver Lake, Colorado

Most ever in 1 storm is 189" at Mt Shasta Ski Bowl, California

The most ever in 1 hour is apparently 5" in Pennsylvania, although I swear I have seen something that Syracuse got 24 or 26" of snow in 3 hours in the not to far past, although it was in a very very small area.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Omg lol the very same thing for me! :D

I still very much remember all the cars abandoned on the side of the road or in the middle of the road. Even the highways were filled with abandoned cars.

Yeah the streets were empty. Felt post-apocalyptic but all the shovelling was definitely worth it!

...global warming?

I know that's a joke, but it actually does support global warming views in the fact that weather becomes more extreme.

However, this is really snowmageddon.  I lived in Montana and never had anything like it.

Gets warmer? Global warming.

Snows a lot? Global warming.

Record lows? Global warming.

Record highs? Global warming.

Seems like there is no answer that is not 'global warming'.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Snow is great... until it actually starts to snow.

Here in Charlotte, North Carolina we'll get 2 inches of snow tops. In fact, I doubt we'll get any snow this winter...

California was great though, as it had everything. Want to go to the beach? Go to the beach! Want to see some snow? Head to the mountains! Want to shorten your life span? Go to Compton!
