This is the kind of ad you should make years after the product is released and people have heard of it. Like the 'Michael' ad for the PS3 last year. Though still better than people staring at the handheld and proclaiming 'WOW LOOKIT DAT' waving the device about without showing us bugger all.

I think it's a good add with a strong message coming through. I think the tagline is maybe forgetable (I've already forgotten it) but maybe it'll stick after I see this more often. I think it's right in tune with what the current target demographic (20 something guys) dig and will get the FIFA / COD / GTA crowd interested.

The one weakness is it doesn't really explain the Vita's features that strong, but I think the idea is this advert gets people interested and then they'll see the thing in retail shops and whatnot - as the thing is all over my local GAME / Gamestation.

It's better then whatever the hell that PS3 advert was in the UK lol.

Personally I don't these types of advertisement are effective, because it doesn't really highlight anything about the product. As a random consumer who would lack knowledge of the vita, this does nothing to convince me of a the product.

I guess they are targeting knowledgeable Sony fans, because this commercial doesn't seem to suit any other demographic besides the knowledgeable gamer.

Apparently, there's talk that Sony are mainly going for PS3 owners.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

What the fuck was that?

Vita ad:

3DS ad:

Notice anything different?

Nintendo just won an undeserved victory (braging about graphics and such).

That was actually pretty fucking awesome.

people don't want to sit through a video that explains the specs and shit of a product, and they don't want a video of random gameplay, because it won't anything interesting and will be confused with the PSP

here is the uncharted add by the way.

besides people aren't dumb enough to not know what this advert about, good grief the internet is a abyssmal brainfart sometimes

Hooray I suppose, what ever works!

...Depending on what audience you want to reach.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Actually on the contrare - they are trying to sell the handheld idea to masses of x360/ps3 owners who didn't care about them before.

People saying that these commercials only target a certain kind of gamer... the platform does. Sorry, but the Vita just isn't going to appeal to the "casual" markets. Certainly not for the moment, anyway.

Sony knows this, and so they're not going to bother wasting money trying to target other markets. Maybe if/when the platform is better established amongst gamers, they might target some wider audiences.

I don't know a single person who wants a Vita. In fact I've never even seen a person talk about/play a 3DS. Even as "gamers", most people are happy enough with their iPhones. Sony needs to convince us that we need something else, if they can't do that, they have no chance with the wider market.
