Forums - Gaming - Android phones now can carry the chrome browser!

You got me all excited then I realized how outdated my stupid Xperia 10 is... I'm sad now :(

Well the phone is 2 years old... they have actually done a decent job supporting it, and if you really want, there are vaguely functional ICS ROMs avaliable

Personally, I am going to be upgrading it within a month as my contract comes to an end to the XPERIA S, though that doesn't actually run ICS yet

But I am quite interested in it when my Sony XPERIA S and Table S get Ice Cream Sandwhich, I would assume that this will replace the stock browser in the future, and so while it doesn't actually have the speed at the moment. So far, it seems to have a nice interface, and keeps your chrome tabs

Having said that, I am not really sure why it is better than the Dolphin Browser HD which I am using at the moment, as that has nice add ons (though the ones I use don't actually work that well)

Chrome is a very good browser, I'm happy Google finally brought a first party browser (Chrome) to the Android OS. Sadly, I would rather get the iPhone. If Chrome ever came to Apple's App Store (yeah right...) I would snatch it right up.

Get an iTouch or an iPad. Apps are better on the iPad anyway. Then get a real phone.

I have an iPod Touch. We might switch our carriers from T-Mobile to Verizon, so I was just going to get the 4S. I don't want a Droid and the Galaxy Nexus is too expensive so I just went with the 4S. My brother is getting a Droid so I will be giving him my iPod Touch.

Why don't you wont an Android phone?

I have had two and they are okay... I just like the iPhone a lot more. :)

So I finally got around to installing Chrome beta on my gnex and WOW is it freakin' amazing. Soooo much better than any mobile browser I've ever used. I will still keep dolphin and the stock browser around tho as Chrome beta does not have flash and lets just say there are a few sites I like to watch that require flash. ;)

However, the overall speed and setup is really amazing. Love the tabs control and overall navigation. Man Chrome is so bad ass. Also with my connection to my home Chrome, I can open the same tabs on either screen instantly... so bad ass.

Kind of surprised Chrome wasn't already available for Android. (never had a smart phone by the way, my current phone doesn't do much more exciting than text)

Well, Android wasn't built originally by Google. It was bought by Google as a company and G-man has slowly been integrating it with its other services. Granted, Chrome probably should have been an earlier integration than now, but the wait has been worth it. Stock browser in Android was already pretty awesome, but this really is a whole new thing.

For some reason, I don't like Chrome at all. I've had both that and Firefox installed side by side for two years or more but I still find myself using firefox for pretty much everything.

WHen I first used Chrome on desktop, I did the same exact thing. Then on day I just started using more of Chrome's unique features like its apps and then certain things just became noticeably better than what I had in FF. I especially noticed this site and overall web cruisin' to be faster and smoother.

Additionally, FF is a resource hog overall and Chrome has never used as much memory... but that is probably related to my experience in it being faster/smoother. Well, YMMV of course, but this new phone itegration seals the deal for me. Chrome 100% for now.

Yeah, I only use internet on my desktop PC, don't own a smartphone or tablet or anything of the sort. I use Chrome for image browsing since it is faster without a doubt but I still don't like the interface (especially bookmark handling is clunky in Chrome) and the add-on selection and efficiency (pop-up blockers, adblock etc aren't very good in Chrome). This is especially annoying on sites with lots of ads and/or pop-up's, link transfers and redirections.

Then again, Chrome is a relatively young browser and can only get better with time. For now though, Firefox covers my needs more fluently than Chrome for everyday use.

I also use Firefox still... Chrome and Opera kind of share 2nd place.

Chrome just doesn't let me set it up like I want it... In terms of loading speed it is a little bit faster than FF, and on start-up is more reliable (when I start FF and open a few new tabs FF sometimes freezes and takes about 10 seconds to respond... after that initial time though it's fine, which is a bit weird) However my overall browsing speed is faster with FF than Chrome because it's more customisable, which is very important to me using a laptop without a mouse. I have all kinds of keyboard shortcuts relating to tabbed browsing and my bookmarks.

Opera meanwhile is slow as hell for me, I don't understand how it always seemed to do well on speed tests... On VGC especially it often never even finishes loading the page for big threads (anything with lots of images or some videos)

Actually I might look into getting Chrome as near as possible to my current FF set-up now then I can ditch Opera for the times I have 2 browsers open (I did try to do this about a year ago but the options were poor so gave it up, hopefully there will be some new stuff now)

By the Gods! I wish I had a smart phone or a phone in general =l

Blasphemy! You don't have a cell phone?

Nope, at the moment I don't. I don't have a job and my father doesn't want to put up the cash for me.

Oh, well, I hope you can get a job soon then!

Meh, see what happens.

Wow! You replyed quickly!

Of course, he doesn't have a job.

I have a feeling you use Navi and your Ocarina to communicate.
