Honestly, based on these and other reviews, I'm reminded of the 3DS launch. You have a decent but disappointing 1st party release (Uncharted/Nintendogs), a console fighting game port (UMvC3/SSF43D), an alright racer (Wipeout/Ridge Racer), a bad racer (Modnation/Asphalt), and a new disappointing IP (Little Deviants/Steel Diver).

Remember how well the 3DS launch went? I'm worried.

I would be worried too. Then remembered there's also another 20 games yet to be reviewed. Also too many of these reviews have the same flaw. They compare it to PS3 counterparts...which came out years after developers had a firm grasp of how to program on the PS3. These are launch titles on a handheld, why the games are being compared to games halfway through the PS3s lifecycle is beyond me.

Duh, because the games are so similar. It's just the way the typical Western gamer thinks: "Why should I play the game on a handheld when I can have the same or better on a home console?"

Exactly what they think before buying the 3DS for Mario and Zelda, right? It's clearly not something everyone asks themselves

Based on how Mario 3D Land was only possible on a portable, I think that a lot of people think this. As for Ocarina of Time... it is the best rated remake or handheld game of all time.

the launch lineup of PSV is much, much better than that of the 3DS, but still no megaton

WOW, at how Uncharted looks and plays, awesome!! great job Sony, i'm impressed : )

ModNatio is a cheap Mario Kart rip-off with no originality in it, many may disagree, but stage and car creation can't help it

Little Deviants looks great, i'm a bit worried at how the IGN reviewer is not that impressed with the gameplay, but it can only get better in future titles, reviewers are not supposed to like this game anyway...

Stardust looks impressive, although it doesn't seem like 9.5 to me

Marvel VS Capcom looks cool as well

so, even with no megaton, maybe all these titles combined can pull off a great PSV launch afterall!?

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Promising and I really want the vita, but I'm gonna wait a month or two, just to see how this develops. I don't wanna get Nintendo'd and buy Vita right before a price cut, although it seems very unlikely given Sony justifying its price. Still, I can wait until this whole thing works itself out then I will enjoy the Vita once I get it, price cut or not.

Oh please, Mario 3D Land has a few 3DS/handheld exclusive gimmicks sure but so does almost every Vita game too.

I'm going to have to humbly disagree about the importance of 3D in that game. I felt it allowed for new kinds of platforming and whatnot. Here's hoping that the Vita games are doing the same thing with the hardware.

I agree with most of the Game Review Scores but the Vita itself score is way too high.

Every bloody Vita thread! Some people...

4 ≈ One

I think their reviews in terms of writing are spot on (Having not played the games though) but the scores seem inflated somewhat, maybe. Stardust is definitely a 9,5 as that will be THE Vita PSN game for a huge part of it's life - I think Lumines isn't worth a 9 though.

Generally they got things right... I think the problem is the Video game scale doesn't leave a lot of room for praise. Some of these games that get 9's are gonna look pretty weak in vita's 2nd or 3rd year when whatever launches then comes out and is only worth a 9... despite being a better game.

I love the IGN guys though, and you can feel their enthusiasm in the reviews. Ignoring scores they've done a great job.

what are your reasons for saying that?

Anyone know what they gave the 3DS?

What Rol said, it was in the low 7s. The VITA should be around that too; they both were the same price, they both aren't that portable, they both had a few games at launch, and they both had their issues.
