Forums - Sony Discussion - Post your first impressions of PS Vita here

@Bigspleen That's not a fact, that's an opinion. Some people find the 3DS better than Vita, others say the opposite.
It all comes down to what people like in each system over the other.

I can't really give my impressions of the system. I did just buy a 32GB memory card to go with my console purchase tomorrow. The Gamestop employee (I was 70 miles from home) was REALLY adamant about me pre-ordering or being left empty handed, tomorrow. I told him I think I'll be okay.

My impressions of the memory card: It has really good contrast between the black and the white. The blacks aren't really true blacks but it was sharp (the corners). The packaging supports multiple languages. That was a nice bonus. Not really that much better than what I've seen from the 3DS but it's just a first impression. I'll have to test it out a bit more to see if it's truly an improvement.

Forgot to mention a few things in my impressions:

The d-pad feels nice and is actually the only input I like on the system.

The sound quality wasn't high, about the same level as the 3DS.

The thing is a fingerprint magnet, you'll notice. I tried to wipe it off, but no good. It didn't ruin the screen quality(which i still wonder what is so amazing about it).

i liked the psvita system, buttons and analogs felt tight and precise. the screen looked great, uncharted looked damn close to drakes fortune in overall presentation. i already own 10 games, with 3 more games to be delivered by friday. :)

In a world where everything new releases on Tuesday, why is Sony doing the Vita launch on Wednesday? By that time, I'll have Asura's Wrath and Metal Gear Soli 3D. I want to get the Vita tomorrow but, by Wednesday, I may be of the "oh, I can wait" mindset. Plus, I go back to work on Wednesday. I won't be able to enjoy the console at all, that day.

Yeah, I would have liked it tonight rather than tomorrow as well and, I just don't see what the reasoning is for it either.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Sound quality is somewhat better, b ut not substantially.

fingerprint magnet?  dude, clean your hands of the cheetos dust, it's not hard to keep clean.  While playing I barely even notice ANY marks unless I'm at a black loading screen with the damn thing angled just right to catch the light. wiping it takes all of 0.5 seconds with your sleeve or a proper cleaning agent.  Also, the 3DS is even worse for getting smeared and fingerprinty.  That's just an inevitability with a touch screen system...and the Vita's touch screen is better by far thanks to the fact that it's electric-stimulated rather than pressure-stimulated, it's also more sensitive.  Still not sold on that back panel, though.

It's increasingly clear you're here as a troll.  I can appreciate a different opinion, but your purpose seems to be just to come here and be like "this thing is bad, that thing is bad, 3DS is better", but you're trying to make it less obvious by occasionally mentioning something minor that you like "but I like the D-pad, only input I like".

I would respect your 'opinion' if you weren't making outlandish claims like "the graphics aren't good" or "The touch screen isn't as good."  No.  You're plain wrong.  Please just stop or at least brainstorm some smarter arguments.  If you don't like it, just say "I don't care for it" and move on rather than making up bogus, trollish excuses and justifications for it.  If you don't like sony or the vita, go play mario or something and leave us alone.

I, for one, love playing with ALL the systems.

@Runa216 I was playing the demo unit at Best Buy, all the systems there are covered in fingerprints even their 3DS(don't know why people touch the freaking top screen).

I never said anything bad about the touch screen, it works just fine. The demo of Uncharted just wasn't responding well with it, probably just a glitch or something.

I wasn't sure about the sound quality, but I wouldn't say better or worse.

I can't say anything about the games because it's attractive to different gamers. I say Uncharted is a series I don't like because it's chessy and the main character is unlikable. I like some series like the Sly Cooper games.

I respect the company, I just don't like them, and I'm very honest about what I say about something. I don't care what you say about my opinions. Your opinions about things are sometimes crap as well, but I respect them because it's your opinion.

You say I'm lying. I say I'm not.

Dang I want a vita really bad, can't wait!

Why is the good Vita carrying case packed with a 4GB card and the shitty Vita case stand alone? I don't need any of that stuff they're dumping on us with the Starter kit. I just want the case so I can safely transport the device. I already bought a 32GB card. I'll probably put porn on it or something.

There are a several cases including 4 from Sony.

-The 1st Edition Bundle case looks like it provides the best protection, but also a bit bulky. Looks like it uses a pre-formed EVA liner for semi-rigid shape, with a vinyl faux leather finish.

-The Starter Kit case looks more like a sleeve with a single external flap style pocket. Heavy nylon weave.

-The Vita Carrying Case looks like some sort of flip cover that clips to the PSV and only covers the front and back. Semi rigid plastic sheets covered with a synthetic leather material.

-The Vita Travel Pouch looks like a mini shaving kit bag; big, padded nylon soft bag, but holds all the accessories (hence, travel) and looks like it provides a good degree of protection.

-Lastly, CTA has a case that's similar to the 1st Edition Bundle case design with an EVA shell, internal flap organizer and a nylon weave finish.

It's only $10 so I ordered one.

I'll post my impressions when I get it.
