Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo bought mobiclip

Aren't mobiclip the ones who do some of the FMVs for Nintendo games, or am I confusing them for someone else? Metroid Prime Hunters is the first one to come to mind. It's 3rd party, but I think FFIV DS' intro was done by them as well.

Wikipedia has this reference: "Nintendo licensed Mobiclip compression technology for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS video game consoles, used by popular games such as Square Enix's Final Fantasy III and Konami's Contra 4" - in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actimagine

The picture both scares and confuses me at the same time...

Regardless, good move here. They'll likely have some quality patents and ideas for Nintendo to 1-UP the market, so long as they don't just use it for something like propertiring memory cards

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I wonder if this means more nintendo games will have prerendered cutscenes

I doub it. Nintendo has a good - IMO - habbit of using the ingame-engine. Doing it isn't cheap.

I hope they didn't buy them for their DRM :/

Other than that, what exactly do they do, and how can they be of use to Nintendo?

Do we know Nintendo's plans?

Also, it is doubtful that Nintendo could cancel existing agreements, though it may not enter into new ones as readily.

Or it may be that Nintendo is looking to crate a Nintendo mobile platform for Nontendo products.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

They should renew all contracts expect for Apple.  That would make me happy.  Although Steve Jobs might necro from the grave and begin the end of times.

I think it might be some form of eco trolling, giving information of a legit transaction while simutaneously displaying the indignities of some of nature's creatures in certain markets that has little to nothing to do with the title of the thread.

That being said, this is a good move, hopefully, the purchase still allows Mobiclip to work with other  companies as it might be a good source of revenue. Or at the very least mean nicer video quality on the both the 3DS and maybe the Wii U tablet.
