GrrrrrAAAAAAAGH

My point was that you could have presented the facts of the situation ("Retro working on a title with hand-painted visuals," which is apparently true) as opposed to something you want to be a fact ("Retro making a Wind Waker-like game," which we have no reason to believe is true). The fact that you relate hand-painted visuals with cel-shading is immaterial to the presentation of the facts.

Well, it's been changed...

Listen to Khuutra and me. If you don't obey, we'll take the necessary steps to have your ability to make threads revoked. Your new title is still improvising too much.

I toke Khuutra's title and put an '?' mark behind it, wouldn't that make it even better? What do you want changed from that?

I'd like that you change "art-like" to "hand-painted" and then provide a link in the original post. Also, if your source didn't have that The Wind Waker picture, then you better remove it from your post.

I changed it. Is it okay if it did have a WW picture?... Just a different one from the one I used?

lol @Rol & NinPie

...So no one thinks to mention Muramasa?? Behold!:

I don't think they'll actually make something like this, but that's what I immediately thought of when I read "hand painted visuals"

WW is celshaded not hand painted, when I hear hand painted I think more along the lines of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Celshading is just a shading technique with the use of textures and dark lines. (ie It doesn't need to be hand drawen to be celshaded) PSO for the Gamecube used celshading along with traditional texturing, for an example.

Good point, I don't think WW looks that hand painted (maybe the environments, kinda)

...But, Miyamoto said one time that he'd like Retro to make a Zelda or something so who knows

Time to post this again!

Could it be something like this?? If so...

@NintendoPie:
These are examples for games with "hand-painted" visuals (and 3 of my most favorite examples in that category):

http://www.the-whispered-world.com/
http://www.maql.co.jp/special/game/wii/oboromuramasa/

I agree with you though. I also hope Wind Waker returns to WiiU in HD. Probably the most beatiful cel-shaded game created so far. (I doubt though that Retro would work on a WW remaster - this could be done by anyone at Nintendo.)

The first thing to come to my mind was a 2d Metroid with a graphical style not dissimilar to Wario Land: The Shake Dimension, just with a darker colour palette. Maybe like Advance Wars: Dark Conflict

If people actually put in a little effort and followed the chain of links back to the original source (which I have no idea why the OP didn't just link it in the first place), they would know this is 1) a rumor, 2) relating to a supposed 3D game using "hand-painted" textures.

This doesn't tell us much of anything - certainly not that there is some connection to any previously established Nintendo IP.

The Wind Waker isn't even cel-shaded, for the record. It lacks the monochromatic outlines characteristic of cel-animation, which is why Nintendo refers to it as utilizing 'toon-shading.' I seriously doubt Retro's new project has anything to do with the GC Zelda.

Look at Khuutra and Rol's conversation with me for answers as to why I said these things.

When I read this news it doesn't make me think the entire game would feature hand painted visuals, probably only select cinematic scenes or menus.

OO that looks good actually and would be perfect for 3DS but I remember Aonuma saying that the 3DS Zelda will be more like the 3d console games but you never know, things change during development.

I think Retro, actually I’m sure they are working on a WiiU launch/launch window game. The more I think about it though the more it feels like it will be a new IP. Personally I’m hoping for a new Metroid from them though

But whatever they make, I’m sure it will be amazing!
