Why people says that we don't want console experiences on portables when RE: Revelations is selling well and I don't think 3DS user will complaining about getting more console type experiences?

I don't understand how people say that Vita is having trouble because the games on it aren't really anything you couldn't find on a console.
I look at the games on 3DS that are propelling it's sales like Mario Land, Mari Kart, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.
What is so different about them in regards to Monster Hunter Tri, Mario Kart Wii, Resident Evil or Super Mario Bros. Wii that makes them "handheldized"? (Saw that word used and I liked it)
They all look like console games on a handheld to me, so shouldn't the 3DS be experiencing "PSP problems"?
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

There's more to it than that.
Some games are great on either home or handheld. Some could be 60/40, etc.
Exclusivity also play a big part. I.E. RE:R being (currently) exlusive on the 3DS. This larely depends on the game being great, though.
If you release the same game on both home and handheld when the home version is the definitive version. It's easy to figure out that the version that will sell.
Sony need to get something that will do for the Vita what MH did for PSP or else it might be difficult for them to even match PSP sales.
They came into this handheld generation being too dependent on that one 3rd party franchise, methinks.

There are some games I prefer to play on the PC, some games I prefer to play on home consoles, some games I prefer to play on a handheld system, and some games which are as good on any platform. A large portion of the difference is driven by how different these systems are in terms of capabilities and environment they're used in. Every person will have different opinions about this but some games and genres just "feel" wrong on portable systems; and many of the people who're critical of Sony's approach to the PSP potentially feel that way about their first party games.

Yes the quoting is horrible lol And i never compared it to phones, just the 3DS. And no they're not the same like i pointed out multiple times, but the PSP games are a lot like console style games but not as good. For example, I bet Golden abyss will not be as good as the uncharted games for the PS3. You guys are acting like I want this to fail but thats not true, I actually want the Vita to succeed but if they keep it so expensive with no games do show that it is it's own console then it will struggle. I'm sure they will announce something soon enough

In case you didn't notice, the 3DS went through and still is going through PSP problems (because the overall lineup is still too lopsided in a PSP direction). There was a massive price drop on the hardware in August and right now it doesn't look like the system will be able to move more than one million units a month worldwide outside of the holiday quarter. |
Funny you say that when it is outpacing the DS, the all time best selling console, also it is on top every week. If you can move a million units in a month that is very good because once the holidays come around that will spike way up.
wow some one thinks 3ds sales are bad first of all its out pacing DS and lol when did ds ever sell ten million in a month? freaking kidding me
your over exaggerating .
no console sells over 1 million a month out side the holidays ds always sold half a million or slightly less unless a price drop or big game came which case it sold 600 k
and i do not think 3ds outselling ds matters
what matters is 3ds vs vita
if the 3ds continues what its doing vita will stay behind. and 3ds will be a success -it already begins profiting in april of this year so . its funny you think its in the same boat as sony
its not e ven close
and yes sony repeated the mistake . -the mistake was letting competition make their move! because they did so nintendo gets 3rd party support sony would have had .
and 280 bucks for a handheld does not go well when your competitor is 100 dollars cheaper and is bc with all ds games -which gives you the size of mount everest to choose from lol
vs vita which in the us is not even getting that umd program lol . --which hurts them even more . i seen alot of post on gamespot where users changed their minds on getting one because of this me i dont care but . that don't change the fact this is going to affect the outcome of the us again
and with little new game announcments besides the 30 games we know which consist of many ports of console games any way .
what really gets me is that Sony refuses to do what they did during the ps1 era . remember how they got nfs exclu sive driver exclusive funny thing about driver is . 3ds got it exclusively
and lets talk 007
since 2005s from russia with love psp has not seen a 007 title. ds/3ds can play 3 007 titles already (quantum of solace blood stone and goldeneye)
and since im a 007 fan , if vita got one id be pleased .
but the way it looks i dont see it ever getting one .
i see 3ds continuing where ds left off in that department .
due to the already 16 million large userbase.
there is no way activision is gonna walk past money
theres only 4 games if any i see worthy in the vita library today
1-asphalt injection (thus because i played the ds versi ons)
2 -uncharted
3 -resistance -not out yet i think but ya (well im in the us nothing for vitas out until 22 of feb )
4 wipe out
thats out of the 20 plus games.
(of course when i made this list i don't include ports)
then theres some titles i would play a little game i call risk your wallet (buying a game from an ip never heard of)
and people whine for new i p's well why whine for somthing not knowing what its going to be i'd rather have a entry in a established franchise not a port though but . a portable version from the ground up such is the case with the 4 titles i mentioned
and to back this up
lets look at ps2 do we sit here and count its sales against ps3 360 wii ? i didn't think so
you only compare consoles of the generation because not all the time will a console sell 150 million units .theres various factors for that
does not make any console a failure if they fail to out sell ps2 or 3ds fails to outsell ds . its still another nintendo handheld
so even if that were so . nintendo still wins because its well a nintendo product
so if you wanna play the 3ds is gonna fail because it dont look like its gonna sell 150 million then i can sit here and add them two together and nintendo still walks tall
saying the 3ds is doing terrible because it didnt outsell ds . is like saying the new england patriots are terrible because they lost the superbowl with a 18-1 recerd
they still finished first in their league (afc) as does nintendo if it out sells the vita so what does it matter if it fails to out do a produdecessor
if we ever used that logic ps3 is a ultimate failure because it did not even sell 70 million which is not even half of ps2s lifetime sales and ps2 still sells lol
so your point that 3ds is doing a psp is so tottaly debunked because i dont think psp sold 16 million in its first year .
cause the ds didnt even sell that much and it ended up out selling psp every month in every territory until recently in japan (only)
so ya . basically
the battle is between 3ds and vita not 3ds and ds .

Glad someone can explain why they think what they think. The kid talking about the 3DS has no clue what he is talking about which is why I'm not even going to reply to him.

It's a good thing that we have numbers on this site, isn't it? I picked a week in early 2007 as the starting point and you can use the arrows next to "Week ending ..." to go through the charts. The guy you quoted claimed that the DS sold half a million units a month, unless a big event occured. But if you look through the sales charts, you'll find that 400k units a week were actually the norm, putting the DS easily past the 1.5m mark for an average month. Also, I never said that the DS sold 10 million units in a month. For my rough estimate of 3DS sales for this year in my previous post, I put the holiday season at two full months (system sells 1m per month for a total of 10m, so that's ten months, then another 10m in the rest of the year). That's an optimistic outlook, so the actual numbers should be lower. But hey, that plays in favor of you guys who defend the 3DS, so you should have nothing to complain about. Alternatively, you can use the yearly charts. In 2006, the DS's second year, the system moved in excess of 20m units which is already nothing to scoff at, but in the following years it sold 30m units or close to it. So if you have some basic grasp of numbers, you'll realize that the 3DS selling 250k units a week (which it does right now) isn't going to be enough to outpace the DS forever; and Nintendo's goal cannot be to do significantly worse than in the previous generation, so they cannot be satisfied with the current level of sales. |
"The kid talking about the 3DS", pure vgchartz gold!!!
