I think you need to take another look at the vita software line up..that's all I got from that wall of text

No, I think you need to explain. Please explain how any game that the Vita is coming out will be a system seller.  If you can't explain yourself, don't comment

wait so you want new games to promote a 'handheld' experience and you want a gurantee they will be system seller? Unless you have a crystal ball I doubt even you would know if any of the new IPs will be a system seller or not

and I was mainly referencing to your it's only ps3 like games on the vita comments..let me put it this way as to why you can't just play them on the ps3

1. they are not on the ps3

2. they are not on the ps3

3. and finally they are not on the ps3

almost all these games are made with the psv capabilities in mind and almost all of them promote on the go experiences..and I would even argue games like LBP will work better on the vita than on the ps3.

and the system has many new IP announced for it...from a variety of genre. So no it's not only about IPs well known on the home consoles either. Again go take a hard look at the list of games announced for the psv. You will see many new games in addition to the well known ones. Time will tell how these will do obviously.

Yes, but you can play something very much like them on PS3. One of the key things one must note in the conduct of Sony developing for PSP and PSV is that you always end up getting outsourced versions of franchises that are distinctly junior partners in the set. A better approach would be similar to the GTA: Stories series that ran on PSP early on, creating something distinct from the main franchise, yet still close to it, and maximizing it for portable appeal

The main problem I see with these games is that they haven't really be 'handheldised'. They're essentially home console games which you can play on a portable. I don't think that is a historically hugely succesful route.

just because the IP is the same doesn't mean the experience is the same. and I really don't wanna get into this whole stupid argument of who developed for the psp with you...I mean seriously how many times have we gone over this? 2-3 times?

All impressions on games like Golden Abyss have been very positive and such games ARE made well with the hardware in mind. and no they are not similar to the ps3 games. And there IS a market for those who want a more console like experience on the go whether you like it or not. And these are coming out along with many NEW IPs. complaining about this line up is just absurd.

ps: to all of you..how much do you guys actually know about the games you are talking about? Have you seen gameplay videos? Read about new features? Dev comments? Heck at least trailers for the new IPs? cuz it honestly doesn't sound like any of you have

How is this any different than the GOWs, MGs, etc. released on PSP/ PSV? How were the GTAs on PSP distinct, LCS was just 3 with a different story and tacked on MP adn they aded bikes

1. Console Remakes

2. Console Remakes

3. Console Remakes

Hmm, I guess I can count to three too.....

The PSP did the exact same thing by remaking games for the PSP and it showed to be a very non-successful strategy.  And yes I do see new games on the list, but ones that will suck in a whole new crowd or even steal sales from the 3DS no.  Fact is the PSV is in direct competition with the 3DS and when they are side by side with a $250 sticker and a $170 sticker it makes it hard enough. But then you have Mario and Zelda in one corner vs Uncharted and Little Big Planet(Which I actually see LBP as a good portable game) in the other corner where do you see the majority going?  Then you have people skeptical about the PSV because of they can get these games on the PS3 already for a cheaper price.  And 3DS doesn't even have pokemon yet, what happens then?

facepalm

how are any of the first party games in the line up console 'remakes'? 0_o they are ALL new games. or do you have somrt of a morphed definition of remake?

ugh how the heck can you even say how new IPs will do? Not sure you what you want sony to do more software wise at launch tbh..this is one of the best launch line ups in history!

Major known IPs from Sony - check

Great 3rd party games - check

New IPs, both from sony and 3rd parties - check

listen, games like Gravity Daze etc may not sway you..but doesn't mean they lack or are not suited for the console. Your whole premise is filled with speculation and a mentality that no one cares for these new games or something.

listen it just depends on a persons taste..for me put Golden Abyss+ Gravity + etc etc and I won't give a crap about if you put all known 3ds games put on the other end ..together.

let's talk about the ports as well..almost all the ports are made specifically for the hw..with tons of new content, features...it honestly sounds like you are ranting on with a very limited amount of info about the product tbh

I swear this stupid omfg it HAS to beat 3ds to do well mentality is beyond silly now. why the comparison so much now? Look at the psv as its own system. It's great hw..fantastic line up of sw to compliment it. Will the new IPs click with the new crowd? Time will tell. But for now you ARE spreading doom and gloom based on nothing. ffs the system hasn't even launched WW yet. Let it launch..give it a year..then let's come back to this ok?

Nobody said the Vita is doomed or that it has to beat the 3DS, what I'm saying is the 3DS impacts the Vita and how much it will sell. And personally I don't see any new ip coming out for the vita any time soon that will be a system seller.  I am just point ing out that they need a game built from the ground up for the vita and to be successful.  And the thing about the ports are they are usually never as good as the console version

The problem is that it's called Vita and not Pita.
Imagine all the people buying up the Pitas thinking they are Pitas.

sigh and what do you think a game like unit 13 or gravity daze is? not build from ground up for the system?

and you are blatently wrong about the ports. For example a port like Tekken DR > Tekken 5 any day. No one can predict what the new IPs will do in the long run..neither can sony. only time will tell

blah I give up, think what you must

I personally see it selling about the same as the PSP did. Which is pretty good for a handheld market that's been dominated by Nintendo since its inception.

Who are we kidding though, the Neo Geo Pocket 2.0 is the real handheld market dominator here.

The problem in this case is that the games are new IPs, and if you shoot too far into "making a game for the system" territory, then you end up with Steel Diver, though i must say i know next to nothing about Gravity Daze and had never even heard of Unit 13, so i could be wrong on the matter. Little Deviants is one game that i am more aware of, and it seems to have the "Kirby Canvas Curse" or "Steel Diver" vibe to it. (and far be it from me to pan games like that as games. I enjoyed Canvas Curse, but it's not how you move hardware)

Basically you should make the system for the games, and not the other way around
