But I wouldn't say that the people involved are really bad at this sort of story. Sakaguchi's been on hand for a few good, sweet romances. Established relationships based on love and devotion are easier to write because we understand them better. Few people have similar experiences when it comes to the act of falling in love, and it's harder to communicate for all stories. There are tales of love in Lost Odyssey that are very good, but they don't make up the body of the work. It's very difficult, and very hit-or-miss, to write that sort of romance.

I always thought you liked that, my dreams are dashed!

On topic, I'm much more excited for this game. Than I was previously, when it first came out I remember people saying it was poor. But, everything seems intriguing! The way sakaguchi explains it sounds way more interesting, than the initial concept I heard on this board.

Maybe I"m just oblivious.

why would any one want a bleak boring game any way, i think the 360 is home to many of those. looks at hour of victory , prey , the club, history channel games,. secret services etc . not to mention its covered only 1 genre for the majority of the gen ,
ugh thats why i bought all 3 so i aint stuck with junk .

Yes sir! Preach it brotha. So many dark games with no soul out there, another wasn't needed. I'm not saying this would've had no soul, but I'm saying the risk was there and I'm glad it went more the other way than anything.

Final Fantasy IX was one of the better endings in Final Fantasy games. I wonder if anyone actually enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII strange mixture of randomness ending.*

* Randomness part really is all about what Zell is doing at the end....

I thouroughly enjoyed the end of FFVIII. Though I have fond memories of the ending of FFIX (guys, these are classic FFs we're talking about here), my favorite between the two is certainly FFVIII.

Wow, seems like it could have been Magna Carta 3, but they turned it into Tales of Vesperia. Both are good, but I liked the initial idea.
