Forums - Gaming - Confirmed: Final Fantasy X HD is a remaster, not a remake

Meh. If they add the ability to skip cutscenes, trophy support, make it truly HD, and sell it for a discount price, I might consider getting it. If I had a Vita I mean.

Not interested in rebuying the most overrated game ever. But glad they aren't wasting time remaking it.

This isn't FFVII

FFVII is actually legitimately fantastic.

I love both of them.

Neither are over-rated.

fix'd for you.

yawn...

remasters are lazy ways to make easy cash from fans... nothing more.

In the case of FFX, though, it's only logical. All they need to do for it is maybe update the models and the textures on the backgrounds. They don't need to remake the environments to be real (good) 3D, they just need to add a new coat of paint.

The BuShA owns all!

Japanese publishers are being very lazy recently. The 3DS and the Vita are receiving a lot of old games ports, instead of some original content. Considering the shrinking market due to competition with smartphones, it is up to Nintendo and Sony to show that dedicated portable machines can be profitable and convince the publishers to offer something more substantial.

But Final Fantasy VI is, right? Because it was originally released on a Nintendo console.

This is awkward.

I don't think I have ever posted anything about Final Fantasy VI before, but that's how I actually feel about it. I'm 5 hours in, and so far, the game has been pretty awful, not good or mediocre, just bad.

I tried both FFVII and FFVI recently (never played them before) and my god FFVI holds up much better. FFVII is barely playable imo

Final Fantasy VII is my favourite game of all time, it wasn't barely playable for me as I first completed it in 2009.

That's fair though, what don't you like about it?

Aww!! This sucks :(

I was so looking forward to playing it after it got number 1 on famitsu's "most tear-jerking games" list

But I guess if I can do it with GoW 1&2 HD, I can do it with this -_-

No surprise here. As long as it doesn't cost too much, I'm probably getting it eventually.

I know more about people than they know about themselves. At least when it comes to gaming.

But on a more serious note, you've posted about FF VI being trash before. And it is with its messed up pacing that has you fighting battles simply for story purposes. The EXP you get from battles is negligible for the most part, so there's hardly a reward for playing the damn game.

It's a very popular game, so I try to avoid admitting that I don't like it, the post you remember is probably the only time I have said something about the game.

The reasons you just listed are why I can't get into the game, and so far the story hasn't appealed to me at all, especially the characters. So, are you not that much of a fan of the game either? Or do you just believe it is over-rated?
