Forums - Sony - 'I don't see PS4 offering anything I'd want that PS3 doesn't already do'

Is he onto something or just plain crazy?

On last week's mailbox Mike Brady made a case for this generation of consoles being the best ever.

This week we've got Steve Wood, who says he's not completely done with the PlayStation 3 and doesn't want Sony to release the PlayStation 4 yet.

I don't want PS4 yet. I don't see it offering anything I'd want that PS3 doesn't already do. More graphics? I feel this gen still has more to offer. More integrated social functions? I'm already stretched too thin across FB, Twitter, G+ and Foursquare. And honestly, I don't really like other people anyway! Real innovation? I'll believe it when I see it. I'm already half-sold on Vita. My wallet doesn't have room for another console anytime soon.

PSM3 says: Interesting - just exactly what will the next-gen offer? More power is good, but we've passed the point where power alone is enough to earn our hard-earned cash. And Vita could muddy the waters, true - if it sells better here than it's currently doing in Japan.

CVG says:: We're actually quite excited to see what the PlayStation 3 holds over the next few months, if we cast our minds back to the PS2 era some of our favourite games - and a lot of the platform's most unique games - came out towards the end of its lifecycle. Either way we're in for a treat, for the record though we think it still has plenty to offer.

Still can't grill anything with it yet.

"My wallet doesn't have room for another console anytime soon."

Did he miss the memo from Sony to get another job?

I'm all for them holding out and putting something together that's really powerful, and unique when they are good and ready. Just hope it doesn't back fire on them. By then most people might have already picked up a WiiU or 720

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Though I agree that there's still plenty of life in current gen consoles, I wonder how much of this is just PR.

Whatsup with everyone assuming the ps4 is just going to be better graphics? Id imagine thats the last thing sony wants to do : release a updated PS3.

Surely they plan on innovating in some way. This is what makes the next gen really interesting, the potential innovation. IMO our current gen, was the graphics gen, but we,ve reached a point where you cant sell on graphical fidelity alone. They need something else to be truly successful.

I kinda see where he's coming from but it's not like that's gonna stop anyone

And besides, how do you know whether you want something if you don't know what it is?

I'm pretty sure Nintendo said something about that too even if he doesn't buy their consoles. Every business wants you to get a second job MBP.

I'll more than likely continue doing what I've done just like this guy said as well.

I'll probably end up getting a PS4/Nextbox whichever has more games I want within sometime after the first 3 years of its release lol.

As for Nintendo, I'm more than likely going to get it sometime within a year after its release.

There's PSVita and 3DS that I need to invest on first before I even think about getting a PS4/Nextbox.

Yay!

OT: If the PS4 isn't too expensive and is for sure going to have great games then I might, might get it.

Developers can't even master this generation of consoles technically. Next gen we'll pay $69.99 for giant 2 hour glitch fests. I'm excited.
