Forums - Sony - 'I don't see PS4 offering anything I'd want that PS3 doesn't already do'

''I don't want PS4 yet'' What a silly thing for him to say. If Sony only started considering releasing the PS4 when people already wanted it then by the time it was released most people would have moved on.

He feels he doesn't want it yet? Well good it's going to be 1.5-2 years out (November 2014 is my guess).

I think after nearly 2 years we will be more than ready for the next gen. Oh and chalk this up to another person who thinks next-gen = better graphics only.

Personally with next-gen I'm hoping to see destructibility in games be the big thing along with the standard more advanced A.I. We have it in some games and it's done okay but I think with more realism or more stylized. Multiplayer GTA where you can go into buildings, blow out walls etc would be delicious.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

I'm ready for some innovation in game play (AI, procedural storytelling, living worlds). And that's not going to happen as long as all big budget games use up every last byte of memory and cpu/gpu power to get the best graphics out of the old machines.

I think you just got owned. Now please excuse me, it is past my bed time.

Lol what? I didn't get owned.

Past your bed time? XD

The graphics won't just be better, both the next Xbox and PlayStation will be able to render 4k video. That's 7680p x 4320p or 33Mp of resolution. That's 16x the graphic fidelity.

Both consoles will likely have Wireless Video, allowing you to place the console anywhere in the room, up to 30' away. Not only will this allow you to freely place your console where it fits within the room, but it would also allow you to have the console in one room while playing on a TV in another.

Both consoles will likely also have Wireless USB, allowing you to walk into a room and instantaneously have your gamer profile on your wireless USB flash drive attach to any console. Digital cameras that support wireless USB will be able to easily transfer pictures to your console, and personal media players and smartphones that support it will be able to transfer songs, pictures, and video.

Granted, technology wise that's not a lot of reasons to upgrade, but I suspect inaddition to higher graphic fidelity will be the ability of the CPU to handle better AI. So you may have situations where real-time events are happening so that if you take your time the game's quest options change. Or if you talk to a character and have them go and do something, they'll actually go and do it and their return will be based on how long it takes for them to do that task, not you walking in and out of an area.

But I also think you'll see both Sony and Microsoft playing to their current strengths. Kinect will get faster and smarter, as well as Microsoft will expand the media capabilities of the Xbox to integrate even better with Windows computers and tablets and Windows Phone mobile devices.

I would be more excited 'bout full 1080p at constant frame rates (60fps or above), even in 3D, no screen-tearing whatsoever (everything v-synched), better used memory allocation, higher capacity media and a functional D-pad. All inside a whisper-quiet electronic device that won't double as a water heater. Simple really.
