Welcome to the VGC Official X720 Thread:

X720/Next-Box will be Microsoft's third console competing in the 8th HW gen.

This thread is intended to be a place for discussion, sharing views and information only, no console wars allowed in here!

The X720 has currently not been officially announced, so this thread will be a work in progress, keeping up with the latest rumours, developments and information regarding Microsoft's next outing in the console race.

Rumoured specs so far:

• AMD 6670/7xxx equivalent GPU.
• IBM PowerPc 6/7 - with 7 Cores running at 3.6GHz.
• Blu-Ray Player
• OS: Windows 8 Metro varient
• RAM: No real rumours yet
• HDD: 250/320GB+
• Kinect 2.0

Scheduled release date:

• TBA 2013

It is believed that every X720 SKU will include a Kinect 2.0 out of the box,which will be more advanced than the current Kinect version being used, including several features currently being implemented in the PC Kinect SKU, including track close-distance objects.

Games:

As the console has not been announced yet, thus making it difficult to accurately guess games that will be released on it, these franchises/games seem like a save bet:

• Halo 5 & Halo 6
• Forza 5
• Gears of War prequel Trilogy
• Alan Wake Sequel (Depending on the success of American Nightmare

With the rumoured IBM/AMD combination, it appears likely X720 will offer full/near full BC with X360 games.

This thread will be updated when more information/rumours become available, in the mean time, I hope you enjoy the thread, and manage to have clean discussions about the X720!

The rumours you listed are pretty believable.

You're really supposed to ask a moderator before opening an "official" thread, but I'll allow it. Just put a note saying "approved by Kantor" or something in the OP (feel free to suck up as much as you want )

A reminder to everyone: share your opinions, whether they be positive or negative, but substantiate any of them, and don't baselessly attack the "720", or, indeed, any console.

Hmm if they go the blue ray way how will they do it? Wouldn't they have to go through Sony and others whom have blue ray shares?

It is fairly likely MS will be able to work out a deal with the entire Blu-Ray consortium (Including Sony), it's good business for all parties involved in the end.

Ya hopefully they work things out nicely, hate dvds they scratch so easily!

Thank you for that. Anyone who still believes it's launching this year is going to be disappointed, IMO.

Also, you can likely add "new Fable game" to the list of games coming for it.

Only problem I have is the thread title... everyone knows it'll be called "Xbox 1080". (j/k)
