I'm not too sure what you're talking about.... not even a little sure. But, if you're implying that the PS3 was in fact, ahead of it's time, or aligning with Mr. Khan's assertion that the PS3 would have been just as well regarded by the tech media and comp-groupies in 2009 as it was in 2006, well..that just can't be.

Xbox360 is powerful machine to me. Being x6 it will be very good for its succesor. Also, WiiU having the same ind of architecture as the 720 will be a step in te right direction for the 3rd party support.

Well you must have not read what all I wrote. If you would have you would have seen I put sharper games, bigger etc. The funny thing is I knew someone would write what you just did.

I love how the amazingly rich people come on here and act as though buying a brand new standard television and gaming console is nothing. Even though most people have just upgraded to blu-ray/1080p. You think people are going to rush out to get a brand new 4k T.V already.

My point is that the jump will not be anything mindblowing. And people simply cannot afford to pay top dollar for gaming consoles anymore. Just look at 3DS and Vita bothoth are great but people wont pay the price because we are living in hard times. The big 3 will pay attention to this and will make the consoles as affordable as possible. 

By the way I dont (talk as if resolution is the only thing that increases) I talk as if there are many factors other then new 4k televisions. And there is no way in hell Sony and Microsoft is going all out just to lose more money again.

hey I'm not rich, I am actually poor lol, I was just pointing out that there were new higher res TVs.

BTW the segment of the market that buys a new console at launch is the kind of person that will run out and buy a new TV, that's why consoles usally don't start selling well until year 3 once the price comes down and there are plenty of games. Software sells hardware not the hardware it's self, but hardware is required to make the software that people want to buy the hardware for. People are not going to go out and buy a new console that has the same games as the console they have just with slightly better graphics and a slightly better kinect just like they won't buy a console that is $599. You need a balance and if you can deliver new experiances that are different enough compaired to the current hardware there is no reason to launch new hardware because like you said times are hard and people are not going to blow $399 on new hardware if it doesn't blow them away with what it can do. Not when there are hundreds of great games on current hardware and graphics are good enough. Unless you think that MS and Sony have something as different as the Wii mote up their sleeves...

I could be wrong but I think you're misunderstanding what Mr. Khan is saying ...

Due to the size, heat, and cost constraints associated with videogame consoles, the hardware has tended to be "obsolete" (for lack of a better word) when it is released; and the systems get solid performance because the hardware is designed for high levels of efficiency and developers  can optimize their games for the hardware in a way that they can't for the PC.

With the PS3 Sony released more advanced hardware than we have typically seen. As a result of this, the PS3 was a very large and expensive system with an inefficient architecture. Had Sony been releasing a similar system they would have been able to modify the Cell processor and pair it up with faster memory (resulting in a much more efficient system), more memory, a better GPU, and most of the components would have been less expensive, smaller and run much cooler; and the net result would have been a much better, more popular, system.

Personally, I wouldn't phrase it as "The PS3 was released too early" though; I think of it more along the likes of "Sony was trying to push technology further than was practical" ...

IGN is pretty reliable. They only post these types of rumors when they seem to be true. Plus, they have their own source, so they're not lying.

Remember when they posted the Wii U rumors? yeah, ended up being real.

Seems like a reasonable rumor. Graphics card isn't too weak or too powerful.
Pretty good specs if you ask me. Imagine a game that looks 6x better than Gears 3? I know it doesn't actually scale that way but you get what I mean :D

They did say that, but they didn't claim to have an inside source, they just spread the rumor.

Pretty much in line with the WiiU. That is what I have been expecting for next gen, so no surprises here.
