NO! 297 66.44%

the obvious answer is that they already have a subscription based service that users pay for ps+

Because they don't need to.

A big draw for a lot of people to PS3, is being able to play online without having to pay extra.

They definately do need to! They are in big trouble at the moment and if they were to charge £30 a year for PSN the PS3 sales would also increase i think, as they would be in direct competition with microsoft.

LOL!

Making PS3 owners pay for PSN, when it was previously free, would only make them lose customers.
How would charging for PSN increase sales of PS3s? Do you read what you type?

Nope. If the Vita is any indication, they will keep the free PSN with an optional subscription with PSN+ which has much better value than Xbox Live IMO.

Sony doesn't enjoy money?

It's cause sony is a japanese company, since american companies are considered greedy companies, like microsoft, they know they can charge a fee for anything they want and get away with it, at least in america, cause americans are used to paying fees so they don't mind paying for xboxlive, which is one of the reasons why xbox sells so good in america

Since the PS3 is apparently incapable of doing cross-game party chat, and the fact that PSN has fewer features than XBL makes this a no-brainer. If they charge for PSN, they would have to improve upon its features A LOT (which includes additional things like bundling headsets with the console) and Sony isn't in the position to make such drastic changes this late. They could charge next gen though.

cause technically the psn store and xboxlive marketplace pays more than enough money to keep their services open, it's just extra money for the biggest company in america,

the cross game voice chat is a issue, both consoles technically have close the same amount of ram it's just that sony made priorities to their ram, more ram goes to gaming than xmb, as with the xbox less ram for gaming then you got cross game voice chat, which means you have a choice between better looking games or cross game chat
