Forums - Nintendo - Is Nintendo afraid to challenge themselves?

Of course Nintedno is going to release those games, when people say Nintendo has nothing after next year I laugh, they have a ton of upcoming IPS they haven't tapped yet, becuase those are what they will release in year three and beyond

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Oh yeah, forgot about 3. >.

I think Nintendo actually HAS been working on these, but there's still a lot of work to be done to get these into even conceptually ready games. Nintendo knows that they need a well thought out control scheme and a game that incorporates the best elements of the previous games, but DOESN'T come off as a clone of the N64 version.

Remember, you want Nintendo to raise the bar, right? Well, if you expect nintendo to shit out a dozen games at once, you're not going to see that bar raised. They've raised the bar a little for Zelda, and have already promised to raise it again, they've raised the bar for Metroid, raised the bar for Mario, raised the bar for Smash Bros, and will likely raise the bar for Mario Kart.

I'm sure they'll be getting Starfox, Pikmin, and at least a few others. With Icarus showing up in Brawl, I'm fairly confident he'll be getting a game of his own in the near future.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

FE IX was released in October 2005! It came out in NA in October. It came out in Japan in April 2005.

"PoR (or Fire Emblem IX ) was released in April 2005. Since the story of RD is closely tied to PoR, a fall 2006 release was reasonable and thus it was still made for the GC. But Nintendo realised that they should put all their 2006 GC games on the Wii instead to ensure a better start of their new system, thus RD, Twilight Princess, Mario Party 8, Super Paper Mario and DK Barrel Blast were all moved over to the Wii."

Here is another reason: Nintendo hates the GameCube.

And about Mario Party 8: Mario Party 7 came out late 05 (I think) and Nintendo already had Wii dev kits at that point so Mario Party 8 was likely a 100% Wii developed title.

Lastly, Nintendo really hasn't had any compelling games for the Wii besides Prime 3 and Galaxy and Zelda (but that is better on the GCN anyways).

Also, I know Roman numerals (Thanks Final Fantasy!)

And the three for Game Boy Advance....

Wasn't the first one on GBA the one about Marth and Roy?

And then Fire Emblem 7 (the first NA game) was the prequel to FE6 (which wasn't released here)

And then Sacred Stones after that.

Yep, the first one on GBA was about Roy (cutie). Marth was in the 1st NES and 1st SNES ones.

I'm attracted to too many video game characters >.>...

I think Fire Emblem X and Mario Party 8 were both supposed to be GC games at first, that's why they weren't as good as some would have expected. Pokemon BR seems to be a rushed launch title.

Given the Wii's success I don't see a need for Nintendo to rush out any of their games, so they should pretty much all come with the quality of SMG and MP3:C. Franchises that don't have a sequel announced yet, should sooner or later get one.
You are right, those two, plus  Super paper mario and DKC Jungle blast. Golden Sun 3 is one of the most expected games for the RPG fans

@ grey Acumen I knew I would come off as Ungrateful, as I should’ve made more clear in my post I’m not saying that Nintendo should rush anything. I don't want them to shit out nothing otherwise they'll end up like a company that starts with a U

Ummm, I disagree, mario party has apparantly been very compelling judging by sales, as has Wii sports, Wario Ware, paper mario, Big Brain, Strikers, etc.

I totally get what your saying we haven't seen MAJOR innovation to the main franchises since the N64 Mario 64 and Zelda: OOT were amazing leaps ahead. Now everything since seems to just be an evolution of those titles. I'm hoping the next Zelda really pushes the Wii-mote element. Although that's not to say I don't love there latest games, or that they aren't pushing other ends of gameplay with new IPs. But I'd love for a game to make me feel the same way I felt the very first time I laid my hands on Mario 64, I'll never forget how blown away I was. I literally drove to toys-r-us like 5 times just to play the demo (prior to launch).
