I still think it's too early to say that. First 4 weeks rellied on launch lineup which wasn't well received in J.
This week Wipeout 2048 is launching
on next week Tales of Innocence and Sumioni
two weeks from now - Ragnarok Odysey
If this doesn't help weekly sales we well have to sound Doom alarm ;)

well you might as well start sounding the alarm now then ... while all of those are 'good' games none i'd call 'killer'. nintendo has mario and mario kart on the 3DS and likely some off the wall break out coming soon like brain age was for the DS. what will sony bring now that monster hunter is gone (and it's still gone even if 4 is multiplat)? COD might be a killer app (i have my doubts) but that will only be in the west even if it is.

At this point of life of a console nearly everything should be generating some sales interest. And by sales interest i mean keeping it at 15-20k and not dropping to 4 digits numbers.

Who's to say that users don't learn? The lesson from past years is "enjoy while it lasts". So if we are looking at a situation where dedicated gaming handhelds are apparently in a battle with smartphones and hardcore gamers need to sell the current machines (3DS, Vita) as much as possible to stop Apple and others, then maybe now is the time that Sony plays the role of the wounded soldier on the battlefield who tells his buddy Nintendo to leave him behind, because otherwise they will both die. |
And what interest would Sony have in this ?
- more profits for Nintendo = more resources to fuel console war
- more sales of dedicated Nintendo handheld = less sales of Sony smartphones and sony software on android market
Of course there's also a question of how attractive would 3DS as only handheld be to core gamer to win him over tablets/smartphones

Can we just sound the Doom Alarm now and if everything works out shut it off later? Is more fun to see the people running and screaming because "the end is here", that just waiting for the apocalypsis to come. ;)
People are saying just wait for killer software for the ps vita.
They think Sony is a charitable organization? They haven't made any profits for a few years now, and you want them you ride out another war?
It better show good sales for the western market or its really dead. It can't just bleed money like the ps3 did.
Quarter after quarter, they can't keep showing the red.

Exactly, and I seriously doubt the VITA will be huge in America even with all our CoD Fans. They would most likely not want to play on a handheld.
