To be fair though, I only saw a few people claim that the Vita had a chance to beat the 3DS in sales- I imagine that most people expected a similar 3DS/Vita marketshare cut as we saw with DS/PSP

Not really. The general consensus among Sony fans pre-Vita launch seemed to be that the Vita wouldn't beat the 3DS, but garner higher marketshare than the PSP. Something along the lines of a 55/45 split instead of 67/33 or whatever it is for the DS and PSP.

i'll fess up that i predicted that pre-launch.  but in my defense that was also before monster hunter tri-G and 4 was announcement for 3DS.  huuuge blow to sony.  obviously only software can save the vita now ... wonder if we'll ever see that killer game for vita.  now i love sony's first party but there is no denying that their first party doesn't sell as well as nintendo's or MS's.   ... bleak days ahead my friend.

I still think it's too early to say that. First 4 weeks rellied on launch lineup which wasn't well received in J.

This week Wipeout 2048 is launching

on next week Tales of Innocence and Sumioni

two weeks from now - Ragnarok Odysey

If this doesn't help weekly sales we well have to sound Doom alarm ;)
