I think people in this country don't understand how our government works. The president can only do so much with his executive powers. Any major change needs to come from congress. With 1/2 the congress unwilling compromise an iota, as their number one goal is to try to ensure Obama does not get reelected, we are stuck with this stagnant government doing little to help on any issue.

How do you expect a President (any President) to create jobs or help the economy or balance the budget or... with no bill being passed by congress?

The biggest face palm to me is the budget issue. Congress is in 100% control of the budget!

Being that oil pipelines are less likely to have a leak than an oil tanker, the typical leak from an oil pipeline is 1% to 10% as much oil as a tanker spill, oil spills on land are far easier to clean up than those in water, and the oil produced in Canada would offset oil from unstable and insecure countries that fund terrorism can you explain how the decision to block the Keystone oil pipeline was a good decision?

Thing is, if something used to cost 2 bucks, and then it costs 3, it doesn't really matter that it costs 9 dollars a gallon in Denmark and 10 dollars in Norway (which it does right now). So I understand people are upset to pay $4, but that's what we paid over here 15-20 years ago, so it's hard to feel sorry for you.

Americans how gotten used to these low tax levels now, so it's hard to raise it. Even tho it would be the most sound thing to fix the economy. Everyone is drinking the Ron Paul kool-aid, but a society doesn't just develop well just left alone, you need someone to GOVERN. That's why every society has leaders, but your leaders need some wiggle-room to do something.

Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, the broken political culture in Washington makes it impossible to do any big changes. The 40/60 filibuster (remember when you actually had to STAND THERE AND TALK to filibuster, not just claim you would?) will make sure that you will almost never have a functioning government where decisions can actually happen, since the voters are split in the middle and always will be in a two-party system.

but its a great decision for his "environmentalist" wacko base, and his George Soros backed agenda.

but other than that it was a terrible decision and was purely political. It is very very evident that he has no intent for job creation, but rather push his socialist agenda. he literally could not care less about real job growth, as made evident by all of his policies doing everything possible to stop growth.

Gas is 1% of my monthly budget. ( I spend on average 50$ a month on gas).

I have taken steps to become immune from it and even gas at 20$ a gallon woudn't affect me much......

You're acting like that pipeline is the only way to create jobs.. And the number of jobs advanced by the builders and supporters are deeply flawed ( they say they will create 10 000 jobs, but most of those are only for the construction of the pipeline, most of those jobs will be gone once the pipeline is built)

if you want to create jobs there are ways to do it without pushing for fossil oil consumption ( like wind farms for example).

Guess who is pushing like crazy for green energy while people are still arguing over here whether the planet is warming up or not ?

China, they are now the number one producer of wind energy in the world....

it certainly isnt democrats or "environmentalists". those are the people that are always against and strike down projects, like solar fields and wind farms. every time one is proposed they basically say "NIMBY" Solar field in the middle of the desert: NO. Wind farm miles of the coast. NO

its always conservatives that push every form of energy, and they dont believe currently non sustainable and non profitable and non practicle energy sources should be propped up by the government (see: Selyndra). they believe the market should choose the energy.

and anything that creates jobs would be great, and something new for Obama
