Forums - Microsoft - No Xbox 720 E3 announcement planned "at the moment", claims Microsoft

Seems Nintendo and the Wii U will rule next E3.

Thats because  Nintendo concentrates almost all their announcements for E3.

In the past years, most Sony games were announced outside of E3.

I'm just saying that because the way that you speak sounds like Nintendo have better news or a better year than the other 2 consoles.

Honestly if they were going to announce it, they would announce it at E3, why would they announce an announcement about the next system when they can surprise everyone.

Besides the xbox360 sales would dip if an announcement and actual release date was made at this time.

Pretty much.

A pre-E3 reveal would defeat the purpose of the biggest news MS could possibly drop this year.

Looking at how poorly the Wii performed over the holiday season, reason would stand to believe that news of the impending launch of the Wii-U had much to do with that.

While it would be highly unusual, announcing any new console 4 months before launch could arguably be the best way to preserve sales leading up. I'm sure that would end up upsetting some new owners, but then again, they'll have most likely bought their consoles for under $200 and anyone remotely interested in gaming consoles should know by now that the next generation of hardware is impending.

Call of Duty 3 and 5 were published on PS2, too. Even the sport games from EA and others still get a PS2-release.
Unbelieveable. I wouldn't compare the old xbox and its ending with the PS2 and the introduction of the PS3. MS stopped to support old xbox, Sony didn't stop the support for the PS2.
There will be no new xbox this year, but AAA-Games could be developed for all systems.

Speaking strictly as a gamer and consumer, I would hope that any launch game for the new Xbox or PS has AT LEAST two years worth of development time, ideally 3-4 on the new platform unless the next generation of hardware is so developer friendly that they can literally jump right in with existing code and still benefit from the loosened constraints of higher specs/more memory. Even then, two years is pretty much the limit for any quality $60 full retail title.

While it's hard to resist, and we all end up buying crappy games for our inaugeral year consoles for little reason other than to have something new to play on them, this time I'm really going to try and avoid doing this and instead hold all inaugeral year releases to the same buying standards I have with the current generation.

I don't want Sony or Microsoft to announce a thing. I'm still impressed by the features and the graphics on my PS3 and 360. I don't think they've reached their limits, yet. What good would it do to announce a new console this year? Make people that just bought the console feel betrayed? Kill you sales when both consoles are selling better than ever? Go into debt trying to establish the new console? Force developers to create games that won't sell very well due to a limited install base?

Let the Wii U have its year. People that have gone with XBL will stick with Xbox because of their established identity. People that stayed loyal to the PS3 are going to stay loyal to the Sony brand (at least the ones that didn't go the 360 route, this time). And if they can have a comparable version of Wii U titles, I don't see a reason to rush into the next gen. Sit back and reap the rewards of this gen. Sony doesn't need to start something new and Microsoft should just focus on its new apps and Kinect. I don't mind waiting.

You know that there are more titles. GRAW (xbox), NFS Carbon (xbox), NFS Undercover (PSX) and so on. You can take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_games and compare, if you like. Do you really think that this point is important? Don't know.

Seeing as how it doesn't make a difference one way or another if they were announcing a 2013 holiday season launch, I don't either. It's not like an early announcement is going to push up the release date.

In fact, I'd just as soon hear the announcement the same year as the release. 2013 E3 announcement/2013 holiday season launch? No problem; less waiting.

Besides, unless there are any software gems being announced along with the new hardware, I can't say I really care that much as a consumer. Later announcement should mean many games closer to gold release which should also be a better indicator of what the real improvements are.

Yes it is important. As I pointed out MS won't release a console against that many big titles. Again you just gave examples of multiplatform titles and non big titles. Just admit you were wrong.

The point isn't that titles will stop being released on PS3 and 360 when the next consoles come, it's that they won't release their own console to compete against that many big games on their own system. So unless Halo 4, GTA 5 etc are going to the next xbox then it simply isn't happening this year.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

Why should I admit that I am wrong? I say that is possible that they could launch a next box although there is a gta this spring and a halo this holidays. You say that they won't release a successor because of these titles. That's your point of view. That's all. Right? Wrong? Unimportant? Just opinions.

Not saying its gonna b there but neither Microsoft or sony are gonna to reveal their biggest E3 2012 moment 6months prior to the event. Wii-U and 3DS were revealed early becaue of leaks but even then nintendo only confirmed a couple months before E3.

.... good grief. I am telling you they won't release a console to compete with that many big titles. You said it has happened before so I said prove it. You failed to prove it at all. My point still stands that unless a lot of those titles are also released on 360 then there is simply no way at all that the xbox next is being shown at E3.

Nintendo can do it with the Wii U because none of those big titles are on the Wii.

Your argument is that Microsoft would announce a new console without any of those big titles and try and have a launch line up to compete with them.
