I am biased, you're right, we all are to a degree. But I can remove my bias when needed. Which is why I think perhaps yeah, MS overshipped a bit, and PS3 is ahead in actual units sold. I'm certainly not going dismiss other avenues which can explain this though unlike you (so it fits your need)

Right now we have a very blank canvas to draw from in working out where those numbers are coming from, we don't even know how much they've shipped over 66m. And it also begs the question, PS3 was down in US and Japan this Q but expects to be up itself in shipments a fair bit as well?

Its obvious when MS said SOLD they mean SHIPPED, all 3 companies often say this SOLD (to retailers), not SOLD to customers, theres no way they can know accurately how many are sold to customers, the only accurate way is like what google does for android phones, activations = sold in in the hands of a customer.

Oh this looks like an interesting thread.... oh wait another playstation 'enthusiast' trying to desperately explain away MS doing better for the year...... how boring.

I love how these people accept it as gospel when Sony wins the year but when Ms do they try and grab every possible excuse they can. Given the current situation MS won the year. It could change however Sony are also at CES and so far haven't debated the point at all. Surely if the Playstation had actually performed better of the two the first place we would hear it would be Sony, not from the fans.

So yea it's possible PS3 did win the year but very unlikely given that Sony haven't announced anything whereas MS did. The MS quote also seemed to make it very clear that it was in fact over 66m sold, not shipped.
