I still play it. I've gone through all the generations, starting with pokemon red back when I was 7 or 8. I've beaten yellow, gold (and heartgold), crystal, emerald, and diamond. Still working on Black and fire red. I'm not sure what makes it so special. I guess the whole adventure and customization of your own team. Most RPGs give you a permanent set of allies and companions, but in pokemon you can have whatever goddamn team you want.

I hope that one day we will get a virtual reality when you actually see the pokemon and whatnot, although by that time I'll probably look like the old hiker guy with like 3 geodudes.

I don't know, but I'm 16 and know many boys my age who still play it, including myself. Pokemon is coming back into fashion methinks.

The Pokemon are adorable, with a great mascot like Pikachu, the gameplay is very solid and works well to this day, it was very social with battling and trading with other people, and it was basically the first of its kind

Pokemon is probably the only franchise from Nintendo that i actually like/respect. :)

Pokemon Black was sort of aimed at older kids and could be liked by teens and even people under 25.

So Pokemon Black got a lot of old fans back into it again.

Mostly it's one of the most pure RPG experiences in terms of strategy, planning and overall thought that goes behind setting up the perfect team (of your choice). There isn't another game or series that has a meta game as huge as the Pokemon games have.

That, and the whole Catch em all concept are the driving forces behind the series for me. Pokemon White&Black added some nifty concepts, like re-usable TM's (does wonders for strategies on the go), the new 1 vs 1 PVP item system (no more abusing Full Restores left and right) and the larger focus on story this time around.

I liked the 3 on 3 battles.

makes it seem like a war lol, also the more challenging battles in Pokemon Black were a lot of fun.

Rotation and 3 vs 3 battles were a pretty good addition two, sadly it wasn't as used as double battles were used back when they were introduced on Ruby&Sapphire on the main game. 

With the proper set-up and moves, some team combinations are extremely deadly.
