Its pretty much porn with violence. So yeah its fuckin awesome.

My girlfriend and I started watching it and really enjoyed, but never finished due to us losing access to Starz :(

If your in the US, its still available via Netflix instant streaming.

I watched "Blood and Sand" and "Gods of the Arena". Good story, good script, good actors (John Hannah is great, some people complained that he didn't moderate his Scottish accent, but WTF, the series is in English, and I'm pretty sure English wasn't invented when the real Spartacus was a gladiator).

There's equal opportunity nudity, with reasonably equal viewings of willies and lady bits. So it's fun for the whole family and every sexual persuasion. The violence is also no holds barred. All that would be shit if the story, script and acting wasn't up to scratch. So IMO it all comes together nicely. I'm pretty sure some of the characters come together too.

I agree that you should not miss the prequel. It helps to flesh out the characters (excuse the pun). And I'm pretty sure they'll write Gannicus' Character into Vengeance (on the Starz website they have hsi character in the cast list for Vengeance) and if you go from Blood and Sand straight to Vengeance you'll have no context for how he's connected to the other characters, esp his friendship with Oenomaus.

Blood and Sand is worth watching, but it's very gory and packed full of sex scenes, probably not one you should be watching with your family. Trust me, I watched an episode with my granny and it was one of the most awkward experiences of my life, just when you think a sex scene is over, another one cums along (pun intended!). Also, now it feels quite grizzly watching it given that the main character is dead. And some of the scenes look shockingly low budget, and distract you from what's actually going on. Overall, a great show though.

Not as good as the Icelandic version

Got it on instant stream on Netflix but I have yet to watch it. I am almost finished with The Tudors. Not too sure what series I'll start next... I was thinking maybe Arrested Development since my friend that recommended The Tudors and Trailer Park Boys said it was good.

Definitely watch Arrested Development, one of, if not THE, best and rewatchable comedies of all time. And give it a few episodes before you judge it. The first episode has a lot of setup, but it gets better and better. (also, don't try to watch it in the background while playing a computer game or something, or you will miss what makes it so great.)

If you like blood, gore and sex. What are you waiting for, and if you watch Spartacus make sure to watch the unrated version,

Go watch. Definitely one of the best series I've watched.

The computer graphics in blood & sand is indeed pretty bad. Near the end, they seem to cut back on it. Gods of the Arena is much better in that regard, though.
