An exact shipment figure from Microsoft would help put all this to rest. 66 million vs something like 66.8 million makes a somewhat significant difference, but I think even a flat 66 million would put them at a higher shipment figure for the calendar year?

In the grand scheme of things, shipped eventually equals sold anyway, barring total failures like E.T. and the Virtual Boy.

The shipped vs sold disparity only really tells us about each company's short-term momentum, but that's pretty obvious to everyone at this point, and it can be determined well enough with VGChartz's figures.

We only have to wait a week thankfully, but you're right, this won't be settled until shipments are revealed for both consoles.

If we're wildly off with NPD tomorrow perhaps that's an indication, I don't think we will be though.

So MS shipments next week and when are the rest due?

Just remember this Thursday onwards we get new info every thursday. Tomo NPD, Thurs after MS, Thurs after Ninty, Thurs after Sony.

Nice, I love Thursdays!

Who doesn't!

Actually i think the undertrack for Xbox comes for Europe and A/MEA, i allways doubt those numbers, serious i know its not selling anything in Japan but having Ps3 at 150K in that region and only 70K in Japan means 80K in rest, while 360 was at ~30K. i have alot of doubts in these numbers i bet its undertracked by some thousands. Meanwhile Wii looks overtracked by 800K in Europe, lets see if 360 didnt outsold Wii in europe this holidays, Nintendo reports are gonna be funny.

Will be amazed if Nintendo provide those charts for Wii, don't think Wii outsold any console this holiday in any region bar 360 in Japan, and perhaps some smaller european countries, by a small amount. They'd just be shooting themselves in the foot.

Here in Portugal Wii only sells because people over here are obssesed with Fitness, most of women get fat and men only know to drink bear and have REALLY BAD NUTRITION OVER HERE wich translates into being FAT! Thats why Wii got so popular, 360 and Ps3 are the Consoles of choice over Core Gamers here... 360 has seen alot of growth and i´ve seen alot of new people here with 360s and alot of new people on Xbox Live and especially in Mw3. Ps3 keeps reign supreme over here but not as much as Ps2 era, not even close.

Just for interest, Wii had alot of Pub over here in Radios because it would make you Fit, you know they even didnt advert games but Wii Fit, and every girl rush the shop that holiday season and bought wii (2008 i think).

Portugal it the country of bear and lazy people, most of teens arent fat because of good genetics over here but when they get older genetics wont help you anymore and well it what you see, we are one of the worst countries in obesity problems and bad nutrition worldwide.

Sounds just like most other 1st world countries (the fat bit). US, UK, Australia, Iceland, Scandinavian countries etc. etc.

Excluding the U.S, i doubt the others are as bad. Not even close.

Uhm why do you say that? They're all among the fattest countries in the world

Basically in ranking too looking at that list. Aus isn't to bad i don't think, or atleast the people i know anyway....... U.K and the U.S are far worse. I remember watching supersize me. I think Samoa and those kind of places are somethig like %80 fat and/or obese...

The 360 never sold because of legitimate library, it sold to casuals and its still holding on. Kinect is selling Faster than the 360 did itself. This should tell you something.

Actually kinect shipped/sold 5m~ in Q4, vs 8.4m+ 360's. If 3m of those kinects are new users with the other 2 current core 360 owners. Then that suggests much less than half of 360 purchasers are casuals this holiday.

Sony was unrivaled by Microsoft until Q3 and Q4. Part of that was gears and a large percentage were casuals.

I can see what you are getting at and your frustration about it, but it isn't really relevant. Casual or not casual, it sold damn well, just like the Wii, a sale is a sale.

Who said that Im not happy? I want Microsoft to succeed, but as a gaming company, not just as a company that profits off of other peoples hard work.

Here we go again, let me guess, they copied Kinect from Sony's EyeToy. Am I right on the money there?

Nope. You actually furthered my point with Kinect. They didn't make that either. At least Sony can take credit in increasing the value in upping games. I can buy a headset and said Sony made it or  Nintendo peripheral, with Microsoft outside of what you get in the box I cant say much.

What you are saying is ridiculous. Microsoft worked very hard with partners to achieve that, it is the same thing.
Microsoft deserves its success by far and I do not see why you should be frustrated about that; at least not in your arguments as they make no senses to me.

And to me (personal oppinon, no numbers to back this off), Kinect + Halo Anni. has the same exact result on boosting 360 sales than Sony exlusifs this year. Then the third parties are generating a good amount of sells for both Microsoft and Sony.

At the end, consoles sales are the results of Sony and Microsoft working hard.

You seem a bit butthurt over nothing, just sayin'. It's funny how your signature directly contradicts your posts.

In the end its down to Halo alone this year (if you havent already played the Witcher 2 on PC). Kinect will still be going strong. No one has ever doubted Kinects ability to sell.

Amen. I don't know how many Xbox 360 Kinect kits I sold this holiday season but it was so noobs could play Just Dance and Kinect Sports. Those aren't real games. And Kinect is the only reason 360 is still selling.

Can't tell if you're being serious, but about 5m kinect sold this holiday, probably 3m new users and 2m current 360 owners buying a standalone unit. This would suggest 3m 360's were sold thanks to kinect, and 5.4m sold as standalone 360's (8.4m+)
