Looks like the guy in the article just added Nov and Dec then, I don't see Sony saying 1.7m in that statement.

But Nov + Dec did 1.7m in US .....

ok i find it odd. 3.8 WW with 1.7 sold in NA.. That leaves only 1.8 WW. Thats only a 100k difference. Sony has never 50/50 NA and the rest of the world.

Maybe de 1.7 figure in 2010 is from the BlackFriday week until end of December.

a little offtopic but has to do with decembers and ive always wondered about this

does any one have any idea how much VGC has PS3 sold for Dec 09 and Dec 2010 in NA only

NPD says 09 1,120, 2010 at 1,210 for US only

i used vgc HW table for NA and am getting around the same amount as NPDs US

NPD is five week? If so... US only.
