Forums - Nintendo - Biggest analysis failure about Nintendo from the media

I don't mind the idea of a "bad predictions" thread. I think it would actually be a lot of fun. However, the arguing going on in this thread is pretty much ruining it before it can even get off the ground. Let's just ignore the little argument that happened and try to have a productive thread from now on. Any other situation is an inevitable lock.

I agree with you. You can erase and delete the posts of the arguing with "konenicki".

One more word and I'm going to close the thread and hand out a ban.
Keep it on topic please.

EDIT: Monty beat me to it.

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/16/ps3-to-lead-in-market-share-by-44-in-2011-says-yankee-group/

Pretty terrible prediction for Wii there;

'The analyst group believes Sony will lead in next-gen market share by 44% in 2011, with Xbox 360 taking a close 40% share, followed by Wii with a wee little bitty 16% share.'

It seems like most analysts either predict that Nintendo will crash and burn and die a horrible death, or that they will be Gods and rule 'em all. If people were a bit more reasonable with their predictions then threads like this one wouldn't be needed.

Well they were both bundled to be fair ... and it's not as if it looks like Wii did very well over christmas if Nintendos 1m~ US figure is correct. 3.8 > 2.3 > 1- 1.3m

The 3.8 when was Nintendo released NSMBWii, the thing the most "from the past" that Nintendo has released.

And I don't think Mario Kart 7 had any bundle, and it still sold exceptionnally well  in one month WW.

Mario Kart Wii. and NSMB didn't push 3.8m, the price cut did.

"motion controls are a gimmick"

More related to fanboy game press.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
