Forums - Website Topics - Should we create a seperate Forum for: Elimination, Voting, and Review Threads?

We should think about renaming this site VGV(ote),VGE(liminate),VGL(ist) or VGR(eview). These threads are overtaking every part of site... Well maybe xxcept Microsoft Forums, buts that becuase they are barely used,No offense to MS camp..Trust me I wish we had more MS members. There is no forum that you can enter and not see at least 3 of these style of threads.

Nintendo, SONY, and Microsoft and general forums have very few threads that are dedicted to the actual forum topic.

aka.. seece has a elimination thread( the only interesting one)..but what does that have to do with gaming?

or sales threads - isnt that why we have Sales forum?

Wheres actual game discussion?

*(L)Nooooo. I dont mean asking "Whats your favorite Final Fantasy" I mean picking a Final Fantasy or something about Final Fantasy and discussing it.

List threads make for shallow threads. You arent actually talking about the game or anything related to it..then not to mention they get ask every month or so.

*(V&E) voting and elimination threads are just bad. I like to call them noob threads - ya know the threads that boobs to like to create or participate in during the identity phase..there good for giving you threads with 100+ post or boosting you post count. These threads are notorious for being up always. Is there ever a time when a vote or a elimination thread was not up?

*(R) Review threads are just for fanboys plan and simple - When a exclusive gets on the chopping block( multi plat nobody cares) the relavent fans will rush in for 2 reasons: To make sure the game gets in the percent tilet hey want it in and to make they overtake the opposition to keep it. These threads will get ask over and over and over again and the same ppl will vote everytime till they cant its over or they banned. Its funny becuase they only time these psot are ignored is when the opposition doesnt vote example - U2 review threads gets made and ignored becuase everybody is tired of them as long as a MS or a negative memeber does nto vote in that thread it will remain ignored.

There is nothing wrong with these threads in gneral when there ask at a appropriate fequency

but currently they are overbearing

So in order to condense these threads. Why Not create a Forum dedicated to them?

Around the Network

There are enough sub-forums already.

Let's not overdo it.

Even if we did they would still show up in hot topics and latest topics.
The harder we make it to get around the site with more and more options, the more we become like IGN or some other site with a horrible forum.

Mods here always seem to make sure threads are properly placed anyways. Also there are now rules on elimination threads.

im not suggesting we try to make them invisible( keep them outta sight). Just put them in there own forum.

We can get rid of a few forums like game specific board that nobody ever use. We can also condense website section into 1 forum. same with off topi

We do have a limit on these, it was fine back when it was just me doing one every few months, but I agree it's out of hand now. The limit is 3 at any one time, but I'll try and knock that down if I can because it is becoming a cheap way for members to gain points and whatever.

I put my User Torny in the gaming forum because A) that's where it'll get the most notice and B) it's like, the one torny/game thread that sort of has any actual relevence here.

How very subtle...

He's right. Some people (few) do them because they've come up with a great idea.

People like you and spurgeon do them for the sake of doing them like doing an animal one with about 500 animals ....

Seece, your 'greatest user' threads are cluttering the forum. What is the need for so many threads when you could just have one thread where people submit their top 20 favourite users to you via pm, and then you do a countdown thread and then a discussion thread running alongside the countdown one? Rather than make possibly hundreds of different threads, like your doing...

Nope.

Bring the rule down from 3 to a maximum of 2 elimation games at a time.

Set a set of rules to ensure these elimation games are of good quality, if these are not met, disallow that thread.

Set a standard rule, for how long a user has to wait before he/she may vote again.

They don't clutter, they get locked once they're done with (or should be) and this is how we've done it for years, certainly not gonna take your advice on how to do them. I'm not making 'hundreds' either.

If you want to look at unnecessary, look no further than your own.
