Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Launch Xbox Timeline To Celebrate New Year

Electronic Theatre

Microsoft have launched a timeline charting the significant events in the Xbox’s history, from the introduction of first-person shooters to the console generation with Halo, to online gaming over Xbox LIVE and more recently transforming the way people interact with technology through Kinect.

The Xbox console was first announced at the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) in 2001 and Xbox LIVE followed closely behind in 2002. The Xbox 360 launched in 2005, and Avatars were born in 2006. Project Natal, first unveiled at E3 in 2009, became Kinect in 2010. The timeline looks back at the key products and partnerships along the Xbox’s journey and the milestones that have catapulted the Xbox 360 into the living rooms of fifty-seven million families around the world.

Looking at the platform’s ten year history, the timeline is live now on the offiical Xbox website,  http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox2001-2011  Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest news from Microsoft.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

minecraft name: hansrotec

XBL name: Goddog

Avatars weren't launched in 2006. 2008 or 9? I dunno but it definitely wasn't 2006 - that's Blades era!

Ah the blades.. sigh

It is a nice time line but wished it was longer =p. (and way to much talk about Kinect and its games X_X)...also the 91 million consoles sold was funny (24 milllion xbox/57 million X360/10 million Kinect) X_X.

Wasn't ESPN (ESPN3) launched in the fall of 2010, not 2011?

Anyway, it's still pretty neat.  And it seems that Xbox  Live really had rapidly grown only in the last few years.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!
