Forums - Gaming - Dark Horse Games to Look for in 2012 (gamrReview Article)

Wrote another article about the smaller games in 2012 to look forward to and I figured I'd make a thread on it so that you guys can discuss with me what you think was missing or how I suck for not mentioning enough ____ games or whatever else you'd like to mention and I will actually respond and start a conversation on it which is unlikely to happen in the article comments.

Somewhat Eastern focused don't you think Tor?
I'm just sad that you didn't mention Default Bravely Flying Fairy! I honestly love saying that title.

Yeah I could only come up with a few Western titles I thought were small enough and not talked about that it should be in the list.  Was gonna add in Hawken too but it's really unsure when that'll release.

Didn't put in Bravely Default because I think it's going to be 2013 based on SE's track record with localizing games without Final Fantasy in the name.

Another title I would have put is Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2, but overall good list.

ah yeah, I thought that was gonna release in 2011 and I guess I didn't keep up with it, shoulda taken out The Witch and the Hundred Cavalrymen since that's questionable for 2012

I've seen a lot of preview stuff on Journey and it looks really interesting.

Kinda funny how most of these dark horse titles are the ones I would consider getting first before many of the triple A western franchises like Mass Effect 3 or GTA V.

I can't believe you forgot to mention Devil Survivor 2; the first one was like the best RPG on the DS. If you never played the first one or don't own a DS, then I can somewhat forgive you...

Anyways, another game I would have liked to see on the list is Silent Hill: Downpour. Judging from the few gameplay footages, it looks like it'll be a decent title. Hopefully they just tweak the enemies a little; they seem a little tough and annoying with their constant stunning screams.

It's a good list overall though. Definitely interested in Dragon's Crown, Gravity Rush, Malicious, Pandora's Tower, Persona 4, The Last Story and Yakuza.

Atelier and Hyperdimension Neptunia are the only ones on the list that I consider to be the "bad eggs." I only did the first year of Atelier Rorona, and sold it afterwards. Nothing in that game hooked me. In fact, I was already bored by the time I finished the first year, and it only took me like seven hours to finish that year.

I will get Journey, Ni no Kuni, The Last Story, Tales of Graces f and Dragon's Crown.

Dust: An Elysian Tale would be a perfect addition to this list imo.

I suppose Metro: Last light is a tad big for this list, but considering the genre it's in I would consider it a dark horse.

Grim Dawn might surprise people I think made by some of the guys that made Titan Quest it should be an interesting hardcore Hack & Slash that may be ignored in the hype for DIablo III and to a lesser extent Torchlight 2. It may miss 2012 tho...

War of the Roses sounds like it will be a new take on Medieval combat, with it's team based persistant multi-player (it's got singleplayer as well) and realistic combat.

Oh and Warlock: Master Of The Arcane, AKA a Civ knock off but with wizards
