Which next gen console will be the most powerful?

Next Box 156 31.77%

Wii U 75 15.27%

PS4 260 52.95%

Total:491

I think it might go:
PS4
Wii U
NextBox (that name reminds me of the hideous Nextel a lot...)

Whoever does manage the highest power will probably also have the highest price, and it is my doubt the general consumer will prefer that.

Considering the Wii U is a quad core 3GHz Power 7 cpu, it is doubtful that Sony or Microsoft's will be significantly more powerful than that unless they want to keep the price tag out of the general consumer's price range.

How one can guess what console is going to be more powerful when two of the three companies haven't even announced their consoles is beyond me ;_;, also what if a fourth company rushes in and releases hardware that is drastically better than the three we have now? Useless guessing now without much info :p

You said it yourself, it's a GUESS, we don't have much to go on right now, but it's enough.

It'll be whatever one releases the latest out of PS4 and Nextbox, which IMO will most likely be the PS4

Sega's Wet DreamCast...

Don't put it past them. 1. They launched a console at 600 USD.

I'm a little surprised that the WiiU doesn't use state of the art DirectX 11, but instead uses the older 10.1. I hope this doesn't mean Microsoft is saving DirectX 11 for the Next Box.  While great, I don't want to  be limited to DX 11 or DX 11.1 as we will be locked into already several year old tech for another bunch of years. (Please innovate with DirectX 12 or more!)

Can I ask where you got that information from? K'thnx.

Also, DX11 has been out for a while now but devs  just recently started  using it in PC games. Most games are still using DX 9 and 10. Devs don't make a mass jump on to a new API as soon as it is released, the transition  takes a couple of years.

Even Epic gave us Samaritan as what they expect from next gen consoles and that's a DX11 demo.

You seriously think the Wii U is going to pull off graphics like the Good Samaritan demo?  We have already seen a preview of the Wii U graphics and they are closer to the level the PS3 can pull than the ones in the Samaritan demo.

@Jumpin

ALL of the Wii U's specs are just rumored.  We're probably going to have to wait til the thing is released and someone takes it apart before we get specs, as Nintendo doesn't usually release those, unlike MS and Sony.  While we do know it will be based on Power PC, and that it will be multi-core, we have no idea the amount of cores nor its clockspeed.  It's like the GPU.  We know it's going to be a Radeon, but which one it is based off of is still just a rumor.

@ OP

I think next gen will play out like this did.  The PS4 will be the most powerful, with the NeXbox slightly behind, and then the Wii in 3rd by a pretty good margin.

Dont care which one is stronger, i think Sony has learn its lesson. It will try to price the lowest or on par with competitor. I just hope that the PS3 era of bleeding money has not hamper its ability to buy more first party studios.
