Forums - Sales - Forbes take on PSVita launch

Price isn't a deterrent to the core gamer. I've already got RE Revelations preordered despite its price tag. I paid 400 for my PSP on launch back in the day, these new articles as to how handhelds are too pricey shocks me especially when our disposable income has only gone up after 6 years along with our wages.

They need to do more research.

Wow so now it's Vita's turn to take the heat? It's a shame what gaming journalism has come too.

Uncharted Golden  Abyss is the only game priced at $50.
All the other games are $29.99 or $39.99.

PSN titles go even lower.

But you have to buy the online pass for online play. Which is $10, so to get the same full game as the new retail release on the PStore you have to pay the same price.

Of course I'm okay with that.

Huh!?

"In fact, the PSN Store description and the game’s update page says this much – the online pass is NOT required if you buy the game digitally.  In fact, if you actually buy the game online (as I did this morning) the PSN Store tells you that the online pass is already

activated."

Only 70k? Sony is getting the price cut in motion

The pricepoint of $250 wouldn't be so bad if the games and accessories weren't also expensive. Sony needs to realize that they don't have the brandname power to sell high-end, expensive products like Apple does. Seriously, fifty dollar handheld games? FIFTY DOLLAR HANDHELD GAMES? Meanwhile the 3DS has several games on sale and the most popular titles are at $40.

I'm positive that the Vita will improve in sales and we'll look back at this period a couple years later in amusement. But Sony definitely needs a change in their business model.

Yeah, $50 handheld games....so? Uncharted Golden Abyss has better graphics and game play than any $50 CONSOLE game. Being on a handheld doesn't automatically mean it's less worthy as a game.

In Japan the retail price of Uncharted: Golden Abyss is 5,980 yen. The retail price of Uncharted 3 is also 5,980 yen. Which would you rather get?

Sony published PS3 games are usually cheaper than 3rd party games in Japan, why is Uncharted Vita more expensive? Actually, since U3 has been out a short while now you can find it on Amazon JP for 4,148 yen, Uncharted Vita also has a discount, but it is still more expensive at 4,706 yen. A new Vita game more expensive than a new PS3 game?

Golden Abyss, given I own that and not Uncharted 3. Also, it's cheaper as a digital download and is THE killer app for the Vita.

But that's moot anyway, since we're talking US prices and here, the game is ten dollars cheaper, for what is basically the game kind of game on a smaller screen.

I'm not going to care about vita's numbers until gravity rush launches

Lot of blind people here who think smartphones and tablets wont affect someones interest in the Vita. Think outside your core gamer box and think mass market for a change

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

The blindness is more one side from the other side. There's always going to be an overlap but neither side is going to kill off one another.

This.

Sony seriously have to return to their old ways, and stop trying to have the higher tech. Most of the people do not wish to pay for those accessories, since in their eyes, the 3DS offers a similar/better gaming experience at a lower price.
