While it sold decently, I still agree that it's underappreciated. It deserved and should have gotten a lot more sales. It's GTA for chrissakes.
Out of the games in my collection:
GTA: Chinatown Wars
AoE: Age of Kings
Elite Beat Agents
Advance Wars: Dark Conflict
Seriously - Age of Empires is one of my favourite DS games; seriously underrated. I've put countless hours into it, and I'm happy to see that other VGCers have too :)

I know what freebs meant and I know what you mean, but I still disagree with this notion ("GTA: CW should have and could have sold much better"), which is not only common among the people who played and loved this game, but also among gaming media.
Chinatown Wars sold around 2.2 million copies according to ioi's data on DS and PSP combined and I assume a few more 100.000 copies on iPhone/iPad, but I don't think that these (comparably) low sales mean it was underappreciated. We have to remember that this is a top-down GTA, not a third person one. I think the Chinatown Wars experiment showed that there's a market of 2.5 to 3 million for a top-down GTA while - as we all know - a third person GTA can sell up to 20 million if done right. CW was not underappreciated by the audience imo. It got stellar reviews and all the sales a top-down GTA can get these days imo. CW showed that the vast majority of today's GTA fans is not interested in a top-down (i.e. classic-style) GTA.

I only bought it because I'm a bit of a Nintendo fanboy who also really enjoys GTA - I couldn't not buy it. Unfortunately, there are few others who fall into the same catagory

Picross coming to 3DS on eshop soon. Probably will be the first title that I'd pay for on eshop.

I agree with all these bar DQ. Mainly because DQ is insanely popular in Japan and does not really constitute 'underrated'.
I would also like to add Lunar Knights, that spiritual successor to Boktai Solar Boy Django.
Monster Tale
Orcs & Elves
Fighting Fantasy
Phantasy Star Zero

Is that similar to 42 All Time Classics?
