South Korea is on high alert?

His third son Kim Jung Un will now replace him.  He is still in his 20's - I think.

He will rule for a long long time.  Don't know what he will be like, maybe he will turn the country around.  maybe not.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

The reporter is also dead.

one political figurehead down, with millions left to go. come on death, do your work. i mourn nothing. i am heartless.

Now the question is: what does it mean for North Korea?

I'd like to think a young leader like Kim Jon-un would be more progressive, and be less cruel to his people then his father was. But then again, he was apparently chosen as heir because he's like his father. His older brother fell out of favor for trying to go to Tokyo Disneyland >_>.

It's really too late for them to try to turn the country around. They survive off the unwillingness of their neighbors to make a huge mess (which even though North Korea would likely be handily defeated, it would indeed be a huge mess for everyone in the region, from refugees to having to, you know, feed all those starving people), and the fact that their own people are trying so hard to stay alive that they don't have the time or energy to revolt. The most Jong Un can hope for is the continuation of this tenuous balancing act

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

No tears over here.

Couldn't resist.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
