I love these stories. Nobody who has a Galaxy S2 phone has a big problem, and quite a bit of the trustworthy sites named it the best phone of the year( or the Galaxy Nexus). People are happy with it and sales show that. The only people not happy are WP7 owners. Thankfully there aren't many.

And LOL at waves comment as well.

Why do you think she GOT the phone in the first place genius?  Because of the great reviews.  She didn't have many options at the time to go to any windows phone on Verizon (they had ONE and it was old).  She would probably punch you in the neck if you said that to her in person.  Her phone is a piece of crap and it's quite annoying to deal with on a regular basis.  Maybe she's unlucky, but nothing I said isn't anything less than the absolute truth.

In any case, as someone who has spent time with all 3 ecosystems I can comment that WP to me is the easiest and most pleasurable to use hence why I decided to make that my personal and work smartphone of choice. The difference between me and someone like Selnor is that I am not here to push my preferences on to people. I can easily make an argument that Android is better cause their flagship phones have better specs and much more apps...

That is true, but for me, it has everything I need.  Tell me, what apps do you have on your phone?  I'm interested to see what I'm missing out on, if I am at all.

Personally, I'm not going to pay for an app, so given that, I feel like I have every App I need.

I have ESPN, MLB.com, Fox News, CNN, Reuters, Facebook, Fox Business, a Photo program, Tech News, MLB Schedule thingy, Youtube, Twitter, and USAA.

I can't even think of anymore that I would want or need. The phone comes with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Maps, Radio, Xbox Live, Weather, Stocks, Headlines, and the usual basics.  Plus the maps tell me whatever I want to know, including nearest Restaurant, hotel, etc etc... basically a full fledged GPS.  Which is good, since I threw my crappy GPS out the window in L.A. after it sent me wrong way for the last time.

So what am I missing out on?   My fiance never downloads a bunch of apps, so she wouldn't be the person to talk to on Android's library.

The vast majority of people never venture beyond a few apps, usually the most popular, all of which are available on all 3 platforms. This is easily demonstrated by the fact apple geta the majority of its app revenue from just a couple of percent of the apps int he market. At this stage it doesn't really matter whether you buy a droid/IOS or WP7 device, you will have access to all the apps that matter and plenty of niche apps as well.

That would be a cool app, no doubt, and it does suck if your bank isn't in your phone yet.  But then again, I don't have that problem.  At first WP7 didn't have a good MLB app, but now it does so it's ever expanding.  I'm sure the hockey and that bank will be on it eventually (unless his bank is really small).  Some of the ones I see advertised for on the commercials (mainly Iphone) just seem so stupid, I hope they don't cost anything.

Anyway, I'm in the market for a smartphone but I'm waiting to see what Verizon is going to offer down the road as far as WP7 is concerned. I'm really hoping for something Lumia 800ish, that's one sexy phone.



I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Does she use a lot of apps? Sometimes apps don't shut down properly and take up more memory than they should. I found using the free app "Advanced Task Killer" to close down background apps generally helps. I very rarely get black screens and when I do I just shut down background apps.

Note however, I'm using the Xperia Play so for the it might not work as well for your partner.

She uses hardly any apps.  Just checks the weather, news, and MAYBE the internet... not really an app person though.  I will let her know of this app though... who knows what's causing all of the glitches.  But it started it soon after she got it.  She claims to have horrible luck with phones... I remember her previous one sucked hard as well.  Maybe its Verizon, or maybe she just really is unlucky, but thanks for the info.
