You can have a youtube account without having a gmail account. I guess the problems started the moment you responded to their urge to link them.

Thunderbird is an email client to receive emails on your desktop. You can connect with as many email accounts as you want and it just keeps all your emails in one easy to read location. Honestly I prefer Outlook, but you have to pay for it. D:

randomly now I try to unlink it, it refuses to let me have access to all the features of the account so I gotta get the link back but all is right with the world now.

It forced me to connect mine.

I had a Youtube account before all this bullshit... and had to create a google account just to sign into Youtube when they decided to link them. The google account was created using my hotmail email (I wasn't using gmail at all until about a year ago) and it stopped recognising my password, username and claimed the hotmail address wasn't linked to any account, so I can no longer sign in if I wanted to.

Now assuming that original google account is still active (I think all I used it for was to connect with YouTube and signed up for a blogspot account) I must now have 4 google accounts.
