aditionally:

The changes in the behavior of the infected ants are very specific, giving rise to the term zombie ants, and tuned for the benefit of the fungus. The ants generally clamp to a leaf's vein about 25 cm above the ground, on the northern side of the plant, in an environment with 94-95% humidity and temperatures between 20 and 30°C. According to David Hughes, "You can find whole graveyards with 20 or 30 ants in a square metre. Each time, they are on leaves that are a particular height off the ground and they have bitten into the main vein [of a leaf] before dying". When the dead ants are repositioned in various other situations, further vegetative growth and sporulation either fails to occur or results in undersized and abnormal reproductive structures.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Ugh ... do we need another zombie game? Survival horror used to be so much more of an inventive and creative genre. Resident Evil had zombies (which was way before the big trend kicked in), Fatal Frame had ghosts, Silent Hill had abstractions from the main character's mind, and, more recently, Condemned preyed on our fear of homeless people.

That issue aside, the trailer was just a little too bright and uncharted-esque for me to consider this a survival horror game. We have seen everything in this trailer before already too ... Dead Island (the little girl being used as a device to spice up the trailer and give us the idea that the game will have an interesting story beyond the standard "kill all the zombies" dynamic) fallout (post apoc setting) Dead Rising 2 and Silent Hill 1 (father and daughter story) and left 4 dead (special infected zombie). I just don't see an identity for this game yet ... maybe it will get one when more info is released, but a trailer should at least give us some idea of a game's "angle."

I also don't like the idea of having the daughter character around either. Hopefully, she just gets kidnapped a lot or is stuck in a closet some where for the majority of the game.

1.) Zombie games are not over-saturated IMO.

2.)The Last of Us is not about the Zombies.

Qoute:

Contrary to evidence in the trailer, however, The Last of Us is "not a zombie game," insists Straley. Druckmann explains: "If the game was about the monsters, we would have not showed them.

The story's not about them, so [we thought] let's get it out of the way. Instead, he wants us to consider the relationship between its two lead characters. Joel is a survivor and anti-hero (played by Troy Baker), and Ellie is a 14 year-old girl (played by 28 year-old Ashley Johnson) with no memory of the world pre-apocalypse.

"What are those non-verbal signs [in the trailer] saying about how long they've known each other. What about the other non-infected person?

what he says reminds me about "The Day of the Triffids" where the monsters and the meteorshower are just used to create a setting, but it really is about how the people deal with each other in that kind of situation.

Left 4 dead is more of a shooting game than zombie, Resident Evil 5 is sort of a zombie game, this looks like it's set to be the survival game - much akin to Metro 2033, which was actually harder than the two I mentioned beforehand, only if the gameplay and hit detection wasn't so poor I would have immensely enjoyed that game, and the ammo was a bitch to find.

Still reminds me of Enslaved, but with infected instead of mechs.
