I am so happy over Sony's first party ever since 2008 until now and I can't believe they are giving us this much to look forward to aswell.

Thank you Aldro, what took you so long to explain it?

Exactly what I read it as. Such a shame people focused so much about my point about future First Party games. All I said was that it was dry and weaker compared to prior years, but The Last Of Us has really got me excited. I'm seriously debating buying another PS3 because of it, but I think I will hold off until PS4.

Didn't feel like creating a new topic but I believe the next xbox will be first out alongside Wii U. All I wonder is if Sony will be a little bit later or very much later (as in a year). I think all three will launch close to each other though.

"Williams, Coyner's replacement, will be tasked with guiding the design and brand strategy as the group moves toward launching the next console. The game developer Web site Develop recently pegged the launch of the next console for 2013, something a source on the Xbox team confirmed. Microsoft declined to comment on the timing of the next Xbox."

You think NextBox will release in 2012, the same time Halo 4 releases for 360? Wait.... I'm confused, you say NextBox will release alongside Wii U, but then say Nextbox will release in 2013. Which is it? and when do you think PS4 will release?

I have to say I disagree, I think 8th gen PS4 and Nextbox will be release at the same time (2013), and competition between the two will be 2x stronger then it is now.

Bring on the forum hate.

I know, PS360 have the potential to go forward. There is no garentee that 2012 will even show a drop in sales, they could easily cut the price, and there are rumours of a PS3 Slim 2.0. I always think the gen is ending, and I'm usually wrong about it so :P.

At least we agree PS4 in 2013 fall, and yes Sony couldannounce a new IP, or even make The Last of Us 2 for PS3 release in 2014 like they did with GoW. However I hope the GT is new and freh for PS3 instead of a latecomer for PS3.

and I don't have cable, so I dunno how much any game is advertized, but I bet TLoU will see as strong advertizing as Uncharted.

I fully support Andrew House taking over the PlayStation branch, because Europe is getting it right on so many levels. Japan has weakened (in the western eyes that is) and I've been a vocal opponent of Jack Tretton and his leadership of the American branch. Because of House taking over the entire branch means that Sony is making the moves that are needed to return to the top.

That's why The Last of Us seems to be following more of a PS2 era title. Something that Sony appears to be throwing great support behind despite the age of the system. I hope the PS4 has a similar design plan like the PS3 had.

But looking at the PlayStation platforms. PS1 was revolutionary. PS2 was evolutionary. PS3 is revolutionary. PS4 will be evolutionary. PSP was revolutionary (but misguided which forced Sony to make) Vita revolutionary.

Dunno who Andrew House is.

The Last of Us is more of a PS2 era title? Since when were zombie games popular on PS2? I think it's more of an American genre, so it will sell well, and boost PS3 sales where it's needed.

Playstation is an awesome platform, but I've always been a Nintendo nut. However I always had a PS as a secondary console (PS3 broke early that's all).

Anyway great chat.

I think both the Wii and next box will launch 2013. The wii ..could come earlier (probably will) than the 360, perhaps even late 2012 but Ninty has made changes to the console I believe. Its been so quiet since e3 and even then Ninty themselves seemed confused. Hell I wouldnt be surprised if they completely changed it.

Sony on the other hand I think: will launch late 2013-early 2014 as opposed to MS early-mid 2013.

PS2 era in the fact that Sony is aggressively talking about the game. It appears they are going to promote this game heavily which something that even GT5 didn't get. Go to any video game focused website (that is a multiplatform or Sony focused) and see if you can go through their front page of their news section and not see something about The Last of Us at least twice.

Really like this piece and agree nearly 100% (I'm a fan of Tretton ).

That last sentence is a line I've been saying for quite sometime now.

Well I won't push the issue of Jack Tretton, because we don't really argue with each other. I've also been saying that PlayStation goes through Revolutionary/Evolutionary tracks.

But Nintendo have stated that the Wii U will release in 2012, and they have even gone so far as to push Wii games like Pikmin 3 to Wii U. Wii's first party support is getting quiet just like Gamecube did before they changed gens, and remember the last god cube games? Baten Kaitos Origins (Same people as XenoBlade), Zelda, and Mario Party.

Maybe 360 will release before PS3, but only by a period of months, and I think both will want to take advantage of the 2013 holiday season.

I don't know if youcan blame Sny for The Last of Us being popular. Uncharted is a well received franchise, probably the best this gen with Portal, Eler Scrolls, Mass Effect and Halo, and The Last of Us is not only just a game by the same studio, but it looks to attack a more popular genre (zombies are popular nowdays, more then Indianna Jones esk).

I think the game being interesting on it's own, and mysterious, is promoting itself, not Sony.
