Forums - Nintendo - Will the next Zelda use motion control or the Wii U controller?

The Wiimote is part of the primary controllers for the WiiU.

The Wii U controller also incorporates accelerometers and gyroscopes, so it doesn't look like motion control is going anywhere.

They say, "Evil prevails when good men fail to act." What they ought to say is, "Evil prevails."

no, there's a reason they made the Wii U compatible with all the Wii's accessories.

I think Nintendo wants to expand the ideology behind consoles using a single controller. Much like Microsoft is doing with Kinect having two control devices used in tandom or seperate from one another. Nintendo is not going to ditch motion controls at least not likely in the near future. I fully expect Nintendo to use the Tablets and motion controls together in many games as they showed with the golf demo where you lay the tablet on the ground and swing with the controller.

My bet is that the Nintendo console after WiiU will be able to handle four tablets (An advanced new tablet) and four motion controllers simultaneously. Giving gamers 8 player and they will make other advancements as well. In the end I think Nintendo will continue to offer new experiances and try to mix in the existing ones.

I'd also suspect many Nintendo titles to be playable campaign with the Tablet or Wiimote or even the classic controller. I don't know how much times and resources it takes to make the titles cross compatable but with Wii it seemed to work very good for select titles.

So as I said I don't expect Motion controls to really go anywhere in the next two generations. But of course three generations from now we could be playing with holograms so who really knows what will happen with the motion controls in the long run.

As for why we need so many controllers to choose from. Nintendo wants to give Nintendo gamers experiances they can't have on other platforms. The tablet and motion controls in tandom will offer unique experiances. Playing a game with three different controllers will make the game far more enjoyable say in replay value. Not to mention Nintendo can sell a shit ton of controllers which is a great business plan. Also once we are playing local multiplayer with six people it will just blow us away. It would appear Nintendo is the only company that still plans on supporting local multiplayer to its fullest.

Indeed, but will they be used along with the tablet along with the classic controller, along with... How many controllers will they have in each box! Things gonna cost a fortune! Something is gonna give.

Why the hell do people think Nintendo are going to put a classic controller in the box!?

That would make no sense. There will be no classic controller in the box! NONE!

Too many controller types imo, never gonna get all those, I usually just ignore most of the extra stuff they come up with (Classic controller, Zapper, BB...etc) - - If it wasn't for Zelda, I probably would have ignored motion+ as well

I think the U controller has all the functionality of the classic controller (except it has raised sliders instead of sticks I think)

@ Miz

I think I would hate playing a COD type game with the Wii U controller. I am one of those people that does not like playing FPS with the motion controller. No one else thinks that 3 plus controllers is a little much?

Also the main point of the thread was whether they will stay with motion control for Zelda or move it over to the Wii U controller.

Do you mean playing FPS with touch? The U-pad had all the buttons that the classic controller has... What do you mean 3 plus controllers? Are you refering to 3 U-pads? Yeah I think it'd be a bit much

@New thread, I don't know yet since I haven't played SS yet, but it doens't matter what they use next time, I know it'll be perfect whatever it may be :)

PS: No fair changing the thread, make a new thread for a new topic next time, our posts don't make sense now XP

you no longer need the CC as you have the WiiU controller that plays the same games. unless you don't want a big screen in your hands that is but then that if your willing to buy a CC. i wouldn't buy it if i had the WiiU.

games will be using U.pad and Wiimote if they can be used together like the golf game or like Aonuma said about Zelda which I've said many times times already. he wants to improve the motion gaming in Zelda with Wiimote and use the U-pad as pocket or an item.

U-pad will be packed in with every console but i think they might add Wiimote in there as well to show of how games are played using both methods together with a WiiU Sports game.

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

This years E3 trailer suggested that it will usw the tablet controller. I know the trailer has nothing to do with the next Zelda, but still, I´d be surprised if they did not use it.
