Very nice HD console numbers.
So much for all the nay-sayers that have been saying that this gen is dead........
If you factor the drop in Wii and DS software sales, software revenue must be up significantly for HD consoles.



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Microsoft, following the NPD report, has revealed that it was once again the top selling console for the month, putting up an impressive 1.7 million units sold for Xbox 360 in the US in November (up 23% year-over-year and double the Wii's numbers). This was largely expected after news broke that Xbox 360 sold almost one million just during Black Friday week.

Xbox 360 held onto 49% of the current-gen console market and it was the ninth consecutive month Xbox 360 has had more than 40 percent of the console market share, and Microsoft also said it was the eleventh straight month the Xbox was the top selling console in the US.

Microsoft continues to push Xbox 360 forward with its customers, having just completelyrevamped the console's dashboard (which some indies have voiced displeasure with), and the company believes it will further capitalize on the holiday momentum in December.

"Demand for Xbox 360 has never been stronger, and we are expecting to see even bigger sales numbers recorded in December, particularly in the weeks leading up to the holidays," Microsoft stated.

Hmm, no mention of being the #1 selling console WW for 2011?  Wonder if they dropped that or if we will get more PR releases in the near future.


That doesnt seem like PR from MS? They wouldnt say that Indies arent happy about new dash.

Well, the whole thing isn't a copy/paste of MS PR, it's just paraphrased with one direct quote.  I would have thought they would have put it in there if MS had stated that.  But, I suppose we should wait til we see the whole PR release.

WOAH O_O amazing Xbox sales!

Shame poor Sony they did really well with 70% up YoY, but MS stil the big winner with almost double that amount....craziness!

Wii did okay i guess, but lets be honest we all knew it was gonna get overtaken by the HD consoles at some point based on recent sales trends. Seems as though MS has secured the casual US audience....this puts them in a really strong position going forward into next year and probably next gen.

why so much fuss for Ps3 sales!?

it barely passed the Wii which only had Zelda and Just Dance 3 for almost the whole 2011, and WiiU already announced

I expected 3DS to be much closer to VGC though it's still good



don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Sony seriously need a better PR team, unless their Black Friday sales were crap and the rest of the month was awesome. Because their Black Friday PR did not hint at this. Like at all.

while Skyrim managed "a five-fold increase over Oblivion's first month sales" coming in just a half-million units short of matching its predecessor's lifetime sales. 

By november 26th sales looked like this according to vgchartz.

 

Console Oblivion Skyrim Difference
360 1.90m 1.637m 0.263
PS3 1.12m 0.677m 0.443
PC ??? 0.350m ???

So total difference not counting PC is 706k. (Counting PC is 356k+PC oblivion sales) Anyway if vgchartz console oblivion numbers are accurate. Skyrim's usa sales would be 2.17mil+ amount of copies PC version of oblivion sold lifetime.

It's like they don't care unless they win.

"We just sold over 900,000 consoles in one Month, in America. We beat the generation leader and we're up YoY by 70%"
