Forums - Sony - The PSP is awesome, here's why (and why I'm getting a Vita)

I know the system is lacking in some ways, but that's nobody's fault but the users who buy them to mod rather than actually play the surprisingly good set of games.  Grand Theft auto, Monster Hunter, the MANY Final Fantasy games (some remakes, some original) Rathet and Clank, modNation Racers, LittlebigPlanet, Jak and Daxter, Patapon, megaman, and MANY others are on the system...so anyone who says it sucks  can blow me.

But why is it so good?  Well it's my Final Fantasy hotspot!  right now I have, downloaded on the memory card:

Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI (Favorite game of all time)
Final Fantasy VII (one of my top ten games of all time)
Final Fantasy VIII (one of my top 25 favorite games of all time)
Final Fantasy IX (Another one of my top 25 favorite games of all time)
Chrono Trigger
Vagrant Story
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

With 2 gigs of space.  I could put any one of the following:

All three PS1 Crash Bandicoot games
All three Spyro games

On it and STILL have room left over.  Not to mention I have Final Fantasies I, II, and IV remakes for the system, so that's basically everything Final Fantasy 1-9, except 3 which is destined to be a shitty DS exclusive.

this is also why I'm gonna be there day 1 to get a Playstation Vita.  I don't fucking care if it's gonna be 250 bucks for the system and another 120 for the 32 gig memory card, after seeing all the awesome I can do on the PSP, I'm fully going to support Sony's Handheld...plus they're remaking Final Fantasy X for the system, probably X-2 and XII as well.  for reference, X, and XII are also in my top ten favorite games of all time.  Then there's gonna be uncharted games, probably more Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, Littlebigplanet, and ModNation Racers on it.  Its gonna be fucking awesome and haters can blow me.

I agree. Even though I'm balls deep in 3DS territory, I still carry my PSP everywhere I go and I still play it. I have a great library of games--including some timeless classics. I'm not gonna give them up just because something shinier has come along. I rip movies on it all the time, too. Awesome system that still looks great and still has some impressive features, even today.

Here's how I roll:
UMD-Final Fantasy Tactics, Jeanne D'Arc, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Metal Gear Ac!d, Rainbow Six Vegas, Silient Hill Origins, Crisis Core Final Fantasy

Digital: Dragon's Lair, Mod Nation Racers, Pursuit Force, Xenogears (PS1), Front Mission 3 (PS1), Peggle, Crimson Gem Saga, Valkyria Chronicles II, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Crash Team Racing (PS1), Spot the Differences, Gurumin, Resistance Retribution, Hot Shots Tennis, Crazy Taxi Fare Wars, Let's Golf, Burnout Dominator, Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, Tomb Raider Legend, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror, Grandia (PS1), Rayman (PS1), Crash Bandicoot Warped (PS1),Crash Bandicoot (PS1), Crash Bandicoot 2 (PS1), Tetris, Final Fantasy VII (PS1), Medal of Honor (PS1), Spyro the Dragon (PS1) --plus a few more games I deleted and don't remember. I can download them again at any time, though.

8GB of comics from the comic shop

8GB of movies ripped from the internet

That's a lot of fun in a small package! And there's still more PSP games that I want to buy some day (Jak and Daxter, Loco Roco).

My PSP ended being my portable porn player, PSV is looking incredible, will definitely be using it for more then porn, the controls, the specs and the fact that just the launch line-up alone gives it a great library of games makes it a must-buy for me and the first platform I'm gonna buy with my own money, and on launch! :D

It has Tactics Ogre - one of 5 best games I ever played in my life ;)

I love my PSP. It's my go to system for all things RPG. I'm currently playing dissidia duodecim and I just download crash bandicoot 3 warped last night and i plan to put it on my PSP. I also got pocket fighter, final fantasy VIII, echochrome and a few other digital games, along with my UMD.

I'm looking forward to vita.

Also glad to see somebody else show some love for FFXII. The game gets to much hate and it's one of my top three Final fantasy games,

Digital is the way forward for handhelds, glad Sony is embracing it with the Vita like they are. Never quite 'got' the PSP but I'm gonna be all over the Vita.

Reality is if you want to play most JRPG's nowadays you're gonna need a Vita or 3DS so I'll need one of them either, glad Vita turned out so good so I don't have to get a 3DS though :P.

Well I have used my PSP to play FF VII and IX so far, and will play VIII, but the problem is I am now playing IV, which is on UMD, so no Vita play for me...

But I am definitely getting a Vita, and I really hope the RPG support, new and old, continues (though I will probably be getting FF X on PS3)

well there's just so many great games on the system, and if not for the fact that FFX and FFVII have more nostalgia for me, XII would be my second favorite FF game. It's just so beautiful, so open, so much exploration, gorgeous audio, great motion capture...and so much side content!

Story was kinda lackluster, but the goods to said story are in the details, all explored via sidequest.
