Forums - General - You've found a substantial amount of money on the floor (based on a true story)

My friend walked into his local branch of Tesco yesterday and noticed that there was a large amount of paper littered about the floor - upon closer inspection, he noticed that they were all £20 notes! Shocked by his discovery, he collected them into a pile, took one note for himself, and handed the rest to the staff - who told him that he'd get to keep the money if nobody claimed it. There was £1080 in total (including the £20 that he took himself) - this money was not in a bag or an envelope; how did it get there?

What if this happened to you? Would you have handed in the money? What would you do with £1080?

Oh that's where I lost my money.

He should be jailed for stealing £20. You should be ashamed of yourself by calling him a friend.

To be honest I'd probably take 2 or 3 twenties, seeing as that's a small percentage of the money and it could of easily gotten lost (so I won't get caught) But I wouldn't take it all, I'd hand in the rest. So basically I'd do exactly what your friend did.

I'd take it.

I don't know what a Tesco is, but I'd turn it in. That's a lot of money for someone to lose. Kinda sad he kept any part of it regardless of how small it was.

Yeah this. Taking even some of the money has zero justification.

Tesco is one of the major UK supermarket chains.

I'd return all of it. And if I found a substantial amount of money lying on say a random street with no one to claim the money, then I would take it and donate it. If it's a small amount then I'd ignore it.

I would be tempted to take a bit off the top, but I would hand it all in as it is a large amount of money and the person who dropped it would definately miss it.

If it was only £20-40 I would probably accept it as a donation to myself through Karma (I know that's not how Kamra works).

I'd probably take it all.
