Forums - Sales - Uncharted series sells over 13 million units globally

According to this article stated by Sony 3 weeks of VGC Uncharted 3 data is actually all just 1 week of sales. So it should be around 1.5-1.7 million FW!

If this is right... Uncharted 3 is undertracked for the opening Week (And thus, probably every other Week).

If it opened to double the Uncharted 2 numbers, then Week 1 of U3 is under by about 400k. I just noticed too... It had no boost at all from Black Friday in the US... lol.

he didnt offer precise sales figures reiterating only that it shipped 3.8 million copies to retailers on day one

I'm gonna split up one of the quotes in the OP.

"As we reported, day one we shipped over 3.8 Million copies of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception."

"Week one sales were double that of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, far exceeding our expectations"

One of his sentences is talking the Day 1 shipments. One of his sentences he's talking about Week 1 sales.

Sales.

Its worth noting that Sony has bundled Uncharted 3 this holiday "Forza Motorsport" style.

However MS likes to see their exclusive sell on its own for the holidays and then bundles it later. Sony it seems, bundled their biggest game of the year from day 1.

While many like to say its just Sony being good to its consumers with a great bundle, it seems that Sony is trying to inflate the sales of the series off the bat, not confident in its ability to sell well on its own out the gate. AAA games are meant to be system sellers without being bundled.....right away......hence the term system seller.

A great milestone, not impressive compared to Halo or anything, but Sony has the beginnings of having one mascot based exclusive that actually delivers on 5 million sales per game. Too many Sony Ips are doomed to a 1-2 million lifetime sales performance.

...yeah ...these bundles launched with their respective games the very same day

I have seen other people quote this, but Ill just respond to the origional.

You merely looked on the surface and showed some pics.....no depth whatsoever.

Those 360 bundles costed $100 more then the usual consoles. Extra controller, bigger hard drive, and especially the custom design. Not to mention these has extremely limited availability.

The Uncharted 3 bundle has no added value to the purchase aside from the game itself. No custom console, no extra controller, just a regular PS3 with the game packed in. From the ads im seeing itll be widely available for the entire holidays - type of limited.

Again, the counter was skin deep.

no it makes perfect sense.

the gears of war bundle doesnt count because it didnt release in the Christmas season, so they clear werent relying on them to sell consoles.

but sony showed weakness by bundling Uncharted at the peak of the shopping season, artificially increasing its sales numbers.

the killzone bundle (though not mentioned) also counts because it released in feburuary, the shortest month of the year, which happen to be closer to Christmas (Dec 25th) than September is, so the still couldnt sell an edequate amount without bundles. and with febuary being so short, they should have been able to sell more copies per week (see: less weeks in the month).

and the gears bundle came with a controller, ensuring that it doesnt count as a bundle to increase sales. the PS3 only came with one controller, that nearly 50% less stuff. which means the gears bundle was hardly a bundle, but more of a sale of a console and an experience that needs no help padding its sales.

its really sad seeing sony resort to these tactics, then "shipping" the game instead of actually selling it.

dont be rediculous.

did i do this right?

almost...almost. You forgot the smiley face. Also, you need one insult at the PS3 / Sony / or PS3 fans per paragraph.

Nono I am not trolling. Learn the difference. Trolling is if I say the game outright sucks, doesn't deserve praise, and say Sony and especially the fans are lower human beings in general.

That sir is not what I am saying. I said that Uncharted 3, while impressive, still has a ways to move Halo type numbers and that Sony was inflating the initial sales with a widespread holiday bundle......all true statements and worded properly offcourse.

and Gears of war, Forza, fable, Alan wake, and.... (cant think of any other exclusive) have a ways to go before they reach Gran Turismo type numbers and without the need of bundle inflating sales.

Just because something is true and worded properly, doesn't mean it's relavent.

It wouldn't be appropriate for someone to enter a Forza 4 thread talking about how it's far from Gran Turismo levels. That would be something everyone obviously knows, with no possible discussion or relavent debate stemming from the statement.

Too many of your posts involve an often irrelavent comparing of one game to a ridiculous standard set by another title. Oftentimes, these are accompanied by statements like earlier about Sony lacking confidence for Uncharted to sell "well" without a bundle. With your definition of "well" being a super selling blockbuster title on the 360, when the actual definition to "well" is closer to 1-2m (which you believe makes a title 'doomed'), or at least the word should be used to describe a figure within reasonable expectations.

Even with all this, you still somehow want to make people believe your intentions are to have a genuine debate about your claims. Get real. You just enjoy acknowledging that Microsoft has bigger selling games than Sony & want to shove it down people's throat. I don't know why you like that. Maybe it helps you sleep at night, who knows? I do know it's not intended, or even possible, to spark any meaningful 'debate' as you so claim.

It would be okay if you did this occasionally, but you do this with nearly every one of your posts about anything Sony related. In fact, I'm willing to bet that all of your posts regarding Sony were guided by pre-established intentions to make Sony seem inferior in any method, relavent or not. Again, I don't know what motivates you to do this or how you find joy from this, but I do know it's people like you, provoking the shallow fanboy wars, that help bring this site closer to shit and further from quality.

what does your reply have to do at all with what you said here? where did you mention value in there? :

"Its worth noting that Sony has bundled Uncharted 3 this holiday "Forza Motorsport" style.

...you know...the thing i quoted?... absolutely nothing... just babble... you would do well as a politician

and as for your comment on value lol if you think the console emmiting gun sounds and a controller are worth the extra $100 then thats awesome but personally i'd rather spend that on something else

and yes the uncharted bundle is limited... the gears bundle launched 2 months before the uncharted one and i'm quite sure they'll both be available through the holidays
