Its worth noting that Sony has bundled Uncharted 3 this holiday "Forza Motorsport" style.

However MS likes to see their exclusive sell on its own for the holidays and then bundles it later. Sony it seems, bundled their biggest game of the year from day 1.

While many like to say its just Sony being good to its consumers with a great bundle, it seems that Sony is trying to inflate the sales of the series off the bat, not confident in its ability to sell well on its own out the gate. AAA games are meant to be system sellers without being bundled.....right away......hence the term system seller.

A great milestone, not impressive compared to Halo or anything, but Sony has the beginnings of having one mascot based exclusive that actually delivers on 5 million sales per game. Too many Sony Ips are doomed to a 1-2 million lifetime sales performance.

lol

no it makes perfect sense.

the gears of war bundle doesnt count because it didnt release in the Christmas season, so they clear werent relying on them to sell consoles.

but sony showed weakness by bundling Uncharted at the peak of the shopping season, artificially increasing its sales numbers.

the killzone bundle (though not mentioned) also counts because it released in feburuary, the shortest month of the year, which happen to be closer to Christmas (Dec 25th) than September is, so the still couldnt sell an edequate amount without bundles. and with febuary being so short, they should have been able to sell more copies per week (see: less weeks in the month).

and the gears bundle came with a controller, ensuring that it doesnt count as a bundle to increase sales. the PS3 only came with one controller, that nearly 50% less stuff. which means the gears bundle was hardly a bundle, but more of a sale of a console and an experience that needs no help padding its sales.

its really sad seeing sony resort to these tactics, then "shipping" the game instead of actually selling it.

dont be rediculous.

did i do this right?

almost...almost. You forgot the smiley face. Also, you need one insult at the PS3 / Sony / or PS3 fans per paragraph.

big deal it still not more than single games like Mario, Halo, GTA, or CoD.

Welcome to the site.

You have to judge the success of something in context. The games you have listed are all in well established and very popular franchises.  Mario has been around for more than 30 years. Call Of Duty existed before this gen, but really only took off on the HD consoles this gen. Credit where credit is due, ND have made a very successful new franchise this generation that looks to be increasing in sales with each iteration.

YES!

God you really are a funny guy. Uncharted 3 has only 1 bundle and according to you it's bundled "Forza Motorsport" style. The Gears of War series, Halo series, Forza series, Fable series are all bundled for a limited time and same with AAA PS3 games. The only game even close to being bundled 360 style is Little Big Planet. Halo Reach has had bundles from day one and is being bundled even more heavily week after week. And no it is not a holiday bundle. It's been bundled with Fable 3 for a while now. Fable 3 practially got 80-90% of its sales this year from the bundles in North America. It wouldn't be anywhere close to big PS3 exclusives such as God of War 3, or Uncharted 3 series without those massive bundles. On top of that it needs to be adjusted down when in comparison with NPD at least for the U.S sales. So if a retailer bundles Gears of War games and Halo games massively which Microsoft is currently doing does that mean they are not big franchises? Does it mean that they can't sell well? The same thing goes to big Sony Ip's such as Uncharted, God of War and GT. I really don't think you should be talking about (how much bundles sold) when it comes to Microsoft as they have prooved to heavily bundle games more so in this generation so it doesn't look like the predeccessor hasn't surpassed the sequel. Which is exactly what happened with games like Halo Reach, Forza Motorsport 4, Fable 3, Forza MotorSport 3 and even Halo Anniversary and a few PS3 exlcuisves to such as LBP 2 e.t.c.

That's really not that far behind Gears of War. I can't imagine any gamer-or Sony exec-expecting THIS kind of success for the series. Congratz to ND, now just finish out with a kart racer to work on something new next-gen.

Well Uncharted 1 and 2 saw more bundling than Gears.

Sony is really all about numbers. They boast about shipped and bundle numbers.
