I suppose I should explain what a cop does. Generally, they choose a target to investigate at night and are told if that person is Town or Not/Innocent or Guilty/etc.
So by wrong place at the wrong time you mean you got unlucky in being assigned mafia and getting caught already?

If prof is lying about ryan being mafia, then we would probably lynch him the next day, right? Quite a big risk to take for a competent player - prof must be certain that lynching ryan would give a good result for the town
This means, in my opinion, that either
- Ryan is Mafia and prof is a cop
- Prof and Ryan are Mafia
