Forums - Sony - A sensible opinion from IGN regarding Vita memory card prices.

http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/12/01/opinion-vita-memory-cards-too-expensive

I got to say all he said is true and not even an opinion anymore. I love to get a vita but I don't think Sony gets the hint about this prices being too much for most people. They aren't like Apple that has fans that would pay for anything they would put out in the market even with ludicrous prices and they still do it without thinking about the consequences(or maybe they thought about it but they just screw reason and turn into desperation or whatever). They aren't the guys on top of the world anymore so they should really act their place and think of running a business that isn't as risky but still manageable to make a profit. The problem about the memory cards would've been solve if not for some of the game cartridges being unable to save your progress(not even bootable which makes things even ridiculous) without a memory card. Vita is primarily a device for vita games and the other features are just secondary. I don't have any idea why Sony are making people who wants to buy the Vita but not willing to go digital suffer from this. It's a business but I'm not sure if sony is running their business right. This is a very tough road for Vita with all the cons coming every week after that high that was the Vita price reveal during E3 2011. I'm still going to buy PS Vita but Sony is just giving hackers many excuses to screw them over again.

i would like to say yes, the price of the memory cards that gamestop has listed is ridiculous.
but ign made it seem as if those prices were set in stone, there is no confirmation that those
insane prices will be final.
ign should have at least mentioned they are place holders, and could change (and should change if sony has any brain, the max im willing to pay for 16 gb of memory is $35)
also the cards are not a necessity, like ign was leading people to believe in that video. you wont need it to save or play games. and i dont think the rumor that some game like Uncharted will need a memory card to save data, has been confirmed.

the odd thing is that i never hear anyone talking about the bundle that comes with a free 4 gig card

While I don't think anyone Sony has an official statement on it many news outlets are reporting on it like its fact (you've probably already read all these, but for those who are curious):

I wouldn't mind that we would need to buy a memory card, what pisses me off is that they didn't give us a cheap option.  They could have easily made it so we could buy any memory stick for a cheaper price, but no, they decided to go with their own tech with no current competition so that they could price it at whatever they wanted.

Sony had done so much right with the Vita, I seriously thought they had an A+ product on their hand.  Bleh.

So the E3 price reveal was a trap.

Shouldn't these threads/comments come AFTER Sony officially announces the price of their memory sticks? But then again the Vita was supposed to cost 400 dollars and have half the ram it has now.

I'm still annoyed by everyone freaking out. Does anyone remember when Memory stick pro duo came out? The prices were MUCH higher.

The 3ds has only been a moderate success, outselling an entire year of DS within the 3DS' first 8 months.

Lol IGN... lol

Anyways, about Vita, that memory situation SUCKS. I really hope they change their mind. =

They cant change their mind, unless they raise the price of the Vita, which would be an even worst solution.
