Wow Zelda sold really well. 800k FW in U.S. probably

It's pretty amazing that Wii is still even selling after so many huge releases on it's HD competitors and with minimal support

maybe many core gamers finally got a Wii after the lower price and great Zelda game?

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Like I said several weeks ago. Wii will win the holidays (home consoles).

If Wii did that, wait until you see what the 360 did

I am really surprised if X360 sold more this year during black friday than it did last year as it had Kinect craze going for it. Going by these numbers Wii will sell most during the holidays. After rather horrible Jan - october numbers it's pretty amazing that Wii pulls its biggest black friday yet. Puzzling really.

I think that the combination of ready availability and the quantity of great deals across many retailers is what will propoel the 360.  We shouldnt have to wait much longer.  Expect MS to release news soon if not VGC getting BF numbers out soon.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I now laugh at all the people in their thread that were saying that the PS and the Xbox360 were saying much faster than the Wii. They were clearly seeing what they wanted in their shops.

The Wii is a true sale beast. It will win December again and will probably do at least 2.5 millions!

500k is pretty good I was thinking it would be around their worse effort 2007, though then it was supply constrained

wii black fridays sales numbers
2011 500k
2010 600k
2009 800k
2008 800k
2007 400k

All bow to me the VGChartz current reigning 3DS prediction champion

Bet with tbone51: Pokeon X & pokemon Y will not sell more than 8 million in 2013

July 2009 daveJ saidTrue the wii has a large lead now but by 2017 the most likely result will be 1. ps3 2. xbox360 3. wii <-- wii's successor launched in 2011 effectively killing sales of the wii

iirc, those are weekly numbers, while 2011 is just 2 days. Or reggie means Sunday-friday?

"The Nintendo Wii had its biggest Black Friday ever more with than 500,000 units sold just during Black Friday and the pre-Black openings at some stores, he says."

WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT!! 500k is biggest BF for Wii?

Last year they said they did 600k but that was for the full week, this is just for BF (and stores that opened late Thursday). So going by BenVTriggers projection of PS3 being just slightly below Wii this means that PS3 should be over 500k across Americas.

Hopefully Sony release an estimate, the estimate I've been given isn't anywhere near 500k though.

What was the estimate you got for the Wii? Considering pretty much every piece of anecdotal and inside information suggested PS3 outselling Wii outside of Walmart that seems rather odd. Particularly considering Wii's total Americas sales for the full week are likely comfortably over 600k.

Anecdotal evidence is completely irrelevent to actual sales. People see what they want to see. Also the data for ps3 being close to wii is in gamestop stores which isn't too impressive considering the wii did not get a pricedrop at gamestop while the ps3 did. On the other hand the wii was 99$ at walmart which would be were the vast majority of sales happened. I wouldn't expect ps3 numbers to be close to wii numbers for black friday weekend.

The Wii had his best Blakc Friday this year.

So it means the whole week will be around 800k

But until 2009, Wii had supply problem. In 2008 it would have destroyed everything.

2010 was actually 550k for the whole week i remember. And 2009 was around 500k. But this year's Wii numbers are only for Friday (Late Thursday night till Friday) while the others were for the full week. Reggie claims it is the Wii's biggest BF ever (surpassing 2008 amazingly!!!!). I would say that 650-800k for the whole week which is absolutely fantastic!

I suspect that the Wii sales this BF week compared to others will be much more BF focused. The $99 Wii drove the sales. I suspect people waited to try and get 1 of those and only if they failed went elsewhere.
