Forums - Sales - Global Up!! 19th November (Europe Up!)

@Seece: I think:

gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4318059

- USA
- Canada
- UK
- Germany
- France
- Spain
- Italy
- Japan

And combined extrapolated charts for:
- Europe (UK + France + Germany + Spain + Italy extrapolated)
- Global (USA + Canada + Europe + Japan extrapolated)

So there will be 10 charts in total - 8 direct regional charts and two extrapolated charts (that will clearly have greater margins of error).

for god sake can't people read... just wait will you.

it is work in progress.

why release something that's not even fully done yet? why not just wait until it's "fully" done?

OT: as of right now, i think it's awful! the old charts are better..

IMO

why not wait until its fully done before you have a rant.

why do "I" have to wait until it's fully done if they dont wait until it's fully done?

Why don't you stop moaning and be grateful you get anything at all. If we waited until it was done we would have to wait even longer for the numbers.

I assume as the other areas (remember they said 8) new tabs will appear.

Oh great then! I do believe that the UK deserves to be alone now as it is on par with Japan. Probably EU, ME and Africa, Asia, Australia +NewZealand, Americas?

That sounds 'bout right.

USA
UK
Japan
Canada
Italy
Germany
Spain
France

Europe
LatinA (I think?)

So Asia doesn't exist outside of Japan? Africa and Pacific are "Europe" now? Someone needs a geography lesson. There is going to be a "the world" SW chart right?

I like the front page having this week / last week for the HW.

Middle East, Asia and some other places are hard to track, so I think they're simply just going to be added to the WW total, not sure.

The regions that will be accurately tracked will make up for about 80% of WW sales I think.  These are the 8 regions that will show up in tabs on the front page when ioi is finished updating. The other 20% of world wide sales will be made up of "educated guess work" I think. As already mentioned Middle East, Asia and some other regions are very hard to accurately track.

That is just my understanding of ioi's previous explanation of tracking sales on a different thread. I might be completely wrong.

why dont you just relax

you act like im saying a bunch of random sh!t about the site or something

i just simply asked a question =

i mean why say "WW Up!!" if it's actually not "WW up!!"? <-- this is also just a simple question so dont get all uptight about it..

Because WW HW IS up, on the front page.

We don't have (and probably won't have for the forseeable future) any direct coverage of markets like Latin America, Asia, Africa or Middle East. We know roughly how big they are but no idea on which games / hardware sells and which doesn't. This is obviously something we are working on long term but the immediate change is to provide better detail on the regions we do track well. This means individual charts for:

- USA
- Canada
- UK
- Germany
- France
- Spain
- Italy

Those 8 regions represent 79% of total worldwide sales for 2010 so the other 21% will essentially be an (intelligent) extrapolation of the data we have.

As we hopefully start to make some inroads with Latin America + Mexico (3.5%), Asia (3.2%), Australia (3%), Middle East and Africa (1.2%) and the rest of Europe (10%) we should be able to start doing weekly charts for them also and obviously including them in the global chart making it more and more accurate. Most of these regions will be heavily PS2 / PSP dominated which will explain why we may have always seemed low (and will continue to for the time being) on global hardware and software sales for those two platforms.

hmm.. interesting

Yes, but aren't the US, Japan, UK sales etc. all extrapolations too?

No they aren't..

I hate the software tracking. We can't even see the total numbers for the games.

Some people are overreacting. We're getting new charts, so relax people!

hmm..

in the title you only said "(USA + UK + Japan)" <-- so would that magically include Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Italy also since "WW HW" is supposedly up?

just asking..
